About DrivingDirections.org

A reference for drivers who want to know what a city will charge them, ban them for or fine them over, before they get there.

What you can do here

Today that is 238 schemes in 207 cities across 44 countries.

Who it is for

People about to drive somewhere they do not know: a family crossing a border in a hire car, a visitor arriving in a city centre for the first time, a driver making a first delivery. A satnav takes you wherever the road goes. These rules are about where you are allowed to go, and they are published on municipal sites in many languages, often without a date on them.

Why it exists

Route planners will send you through a charging zone without a word. The rules are public, but they are scattered, and the guides that collect them rarely say where a figure came from or when anyone last checked. A wrong number here costs a real driver a real fine, so the site is built to be wrong less often and to say so when it does not know.

How we keep it accurate

Every figure comes from the page of the authority that runs the scheme. We record the publisher, the link and the date we read it, and we read it again on a schedule. If the page changes, or we can no longer read it, the record comes down until a person has checked it. How we source and check this describes the process and reports the current counts.

What we will not do

Who publishes it

DrivingDirections.org is published by Domino Services Ltd., a company registered in England and Wales under number 13108907, at Hova House, 1 Hova Villas, BN3 3DH Brighton & Hove, East Sussex, United Kingdom.

How the site is paid for

The site may carry advertising, which the advertising policy describes. No advertiser influences a figure or decides which places we cover.

Contact

Corrections are the most useful thing you can send. If a figure disagrees with the authority's own page, we withdraw ours until it has been re-checked.

Write to contact at driving directions dot org. The address is written out rather than linked, so that address harvesters have to work for it. Tell us the page, the figure, and the authority's own page that disagrees with it. That is enough for us to act.
