What we checked, and where we found nothing

We have checked 67 countries against their own official sources. A country with no scheme is an answer, not a gap, and where an authority would not answer us, we say that instead.

How to read a finding

Each country we read ends up in one of three places, and they mean different things for a driver.

Published here (44)
At least one scheme is on the site, with its source. Open the country to read it.
None in force (19)
The authorities' own channels showed no restriction that applies to drivers. That is an answer you can act on, and it carries the date we read it.
Found, not yet recordable (4)
A scheme exists but we could not state it from a source we may cite. We do not fill it in from memory, so treat these as places to ask the authority before you drive.

"We found nothing" is worth less when a publisher's server refused us than when we read its whole listing. Every entry says which it was, so the strength of the finding is never hidden behind the finding.
