2 schemes in 2 cities. Every figure comes from an official source and is re-checked.
Argentina has 2 driving restrictions that we have checked against an official source, in 2 cities. All are heavy vehicle bans.
This page lists no country-wide requirement for Argentina. Anything owed before you reach a city is not covered here, so check the national road authority before you leave.
The sources for this country were read between 2026-09-10 and 2026-09-14, from the authorities' own pages. Each check is repeated on a schedule, and a rule we can no longer confirm comes down instead of staying up.
Buenos Aires bans heavy lorries from the whole city and then hands back a list of roads they may use. Chapter 9.10 of the city's traffic code prohibits trucks and trailers weighing 12 tonnes or more — each unit counted on its own, loaded or empty — from every artery in the Ciudad Autónoma de Buenos Aires, except the 95 named streets and motorway sections that make up the Red de Tránsito Pesado.
Leaving the network is allowed for one reason only: to reach a destination and come back, by the shortest route to and from the network. There is no charge, no permit and no time window — it applies at every hour of every day — and it does not touch cars, vans or hire vehicles at any weight a driving licence covers. If you are driving anything a car licence covers, this scheme is not about you.
Córdoba closes the ring around its centre to goods vehicles above a size, and waves the small ones through. Inside Zona A only two classes of lorry may drive at all, and the decree says so with the word "solamente". Vans and lorries up to 7.50 m long and 4,500 kg, and medium lorries up to 8 m and 9,000 kg, may circulate freely, all day, every day.
Semi-heavy lorries up to 10 m and 17,000 kg may circulate only at night, on a window that moves with the season: Monday to Friday from 22:00 to 08:00 between 1 October and 31 March, from 21:00 to 08:00 between 1 April and 30 September, plus Saturdays from 14:00 and the whole of Sundays and public holidays.
Anything above 17,000 kg is on neither list, which is the ban: it may enter only with a permit the Dirección de Tránsito issues for one vehicle, one date, one time and one route, and the decree tells that office not to grant one for an hour the decree itself does not allow.
Stopping to load or unload is a separate and tighter rule, so the small van that may drive through at any hour may still only work inside its own window. Nothing here is charged and nothing here is about exhaust: this scheme sorts vehicles by length, axle configuration and weight, and a Euro 6 lorry and a thirty-year-old one are the same vehicle to it. If you are driving a car, none of it reaches you at any hour.
