Driving in Clermont-Ferrand

France: 1 scheme to know about before you drive in.

The short answer for Clermont-Ferrand

Clermont-Ferrand has one driving restriction on our books: the Zone à faibles émissions mobilité (ZFE-m) de Clermont Auvergne Métropole (low emission zone). What is a low emission zone?

What it means for your car

Petrol or LPG. Irrelevant to a car here, and for a van or lorry the test is not the fuel but the sticker. The ban reaches only vehicles in the 'non classés' category — those too old to qualify for any Crit'Air sticker, whether petrol or diesel — and only when they are professional goods vehicles. A petrol car of any age and any Crit'Air class may drive and park inside the zone.
Diesel. Same test as for petrol, and the same answer for a car: none. A diesel car is not in the scheme at any age. A diesel lorry or light commercial van used professionally is banned only if it is 'non classé' — one Crit'Air class, the oldest, with Crit'Air 1 through 5 all unaffected. The Métropole publishes no dated cut-off for what makes a vehicle unclassified, so none is stated here.
