Driving in Aigio: Limited traffic zone

Aigio, Greece · Limited traffic zone

32589ΛΔχ, ΦΕΚ Β' 2399/15.05.2025)

In force in Aigio right nowTuesday, 13 October 2026 at 12:05 · Europe/Athens

  • In force Every vehicle on any of the five stretches the act pedestrianises in the urban core of Aigio: οδός Κλεομένους Οικονόμου between οδός Βασιλέως Κωνσταντίνου and οδός Ερμού; οδός Ασημάκη Φωτήλα between οδός Βασιλέως Κωνσταντίνου and οδός Ταξιαρχών; οδός Βαλφούρ between οδός Ανδρέα Λόντου and οδός Ασημάκη Φωτήλα; οδός Ανδριανοπούλου between οδός Ανδρέα Λόντου and οδός Κλεομένους Οικονόμου; and οδός Γερμανού between οδός Κλεομένους Οικονόμου and οδός Πολυχρονιάδου. 🚫 The cross streets that name the ends are not themselves pedestrianised, and neither is the remainder of any named street beyond the stated ends — Βασιλέως Κωνσταντίνου in particular stays open to traffic and carries two further measures of its own. 🔑 The exceptions are real but they are not encoded here, because they are not time-based: the Highway Code and the municipality's own regulation admit named classes of vehicle around the clock rather than at an hour, and one of them needs a municipal permit. They are set out in `how_to_comply`.

The empty window list is the act's own shape and not a missing fact. Each of the five items is a bare «Πεζοδρόμηση της οδού …» with two end points, and the act prints no hour, no weekday and no season anywhere, so a verdict of "in force" is correct at every hour of every day. 🚫 It must not be read as a timetable this project failed to find, and it must not be turned into an evening window to resemble this corpus's other Greek records.

🚨 The 02:30–09:30 supply hour is NOT a window in this closure. The municipality's regulation says «Δευτέρα έως Παρασκευή και Σαββατοκύριακο από 02:30 έως 09:30 το πρωί» for the supply of businesses and the loading and unloading of goods. That admits one class of vehicle for seven hours; it does not open the street to traffic. 🚫 Putting it in `windows` would tell every driver in Aigio that Κλεομένους Οικονόμου is theirs until half past nine in the morning.

🚨 `effective_from` is null and the reason is the act's own. The measures commence «από την τοποθέτηση των οικείων πινακίδων σήμανσης ή των διαγραμμίσεων στο οδόστρωμα», and this project searched the municipality's own site for a publication saying that happened: a date-ordered search of its posts for «πεζοδρόμηση» on 2026-09-25 returned five items, the most recent from 25 February 2025 — before the gazette — and nothing at all after 15 May 2025. So the signing may or may not be in place, and this page does not claim either way.

🚨 The act contradicts itself about the town plan, and the contradiction is quoted rather than resolved. Recital 30 describes council decision 345/2024 as the one by which «κινήθηκε η διαδικασία τροποποίησης του σχεδίου πόλεως Αιγίου» — the amendment procedure was set in motion — and recitals 32 and 42 describe the same decision 345/2024 as the one by which «εγκρίθηκε η τροποποίηση του σχεδίου πόλεως του Αιγίου για την πεζοδρόμηση των οδικών τμημάτων». Started, and approved, in one issue. The list of findings in recital 46 takes the first reading: the plan amendment «έχει κινηθεί … για την προσαρμογή του πολεοδομικού καθεστώτος στο νέο κυκλοφοριακό καθεστώς», the planning regime adapting to the new traffic regime rather than preceding it. 🔑 What the approving authority does assert positively is consistency with the plan in force: «Τα μέτρα ρύθμισης της κυκλοφορίας συνάδουν με τις ρυθμίσεις του ισχύοντος ΓΠΣ». 🚫 A council decision cannot complete a σχέδιο πόλεως amendment on its own — that takes a decree published in ΦΕΚ Δ' — and no such decree was found: searches of the gazette on 2026-09-25 for «τροποποίηση του σχεδίου πόλεως Αιγίου» return eight issues whose most recent is ΦΕΚ Δ' 813/2005, and a filtered search from 2024 onwards returns none.

⚠️ Two measures in the same act are not closures and are deliberately not encoded as this zone. Item vi creates a «λωρίδα αντίθετης ροής αποκλειστικά για αστικά λεωφορεία (contra flow bus lane)» on οδός Βασιλέως Κωνσταντίνου between Κλεομένους Οικονόμου and Κολοκοτρώνη, and item vii bans stopping and parking on both sides of the same stretch. Βασιλέως Κωνσταντίνου is not pedestrianised; a lane on it belongs to the buses and the rest of the street does not. 🚫 Encoding either as a pedestrianisation would close a street the act leaves open, and encoding the bus lane as a separate zone would need hours the act does not print. Both are stated in `how_to_comply` instead.

Public holidays are not encoded, because neither publisher mentions them. The act exempts no day and no date, and the regulation's only calendar is the winter and summer split of the quiet hours.

The schedule is derived from `hours` and carries no fact that is not in the act.

Operating times only, read from the source below. It does not check your vehicle.

What applies

Aigio is the second town of Achaea, on the Gulf of Corinth about 40 km east of Patras, and a place a driver meets by choice rather than by accident: the old town sits on a shelf above the harbour and the shopping streets run across it.

On 15 May 2025 the Decentralised Administration of the Peloponnese, Western Greece and the Ionian approved decision 52/2025 of the Aigialeia municipal council and pedestrianised five named stretches of that shelf, under article 52 §1 of the Highway Code. 🔑 The five, with the act's own end points: οδός Κλεομένους Οικονόμου from Βασιλέως Κωνσταντίνου to Ερμού — the central street, and the one the whole scheme is named after; οδός Ασημάκη Φωτήλα from Βασιλέως Κωνσταντίνου to Ταξιαρχών; οδός Βαλφούρ from Ανδρέα Λόντου to Ασημάκη Φωτήλα; οδός Ανδριανοπούλου from Ανδρέα Λόντου to Κλεομένους Οικονόμου; and οδός Γερμανού from Κλεομένους Οικονόμου to Πολυχρονιάδου.

Two further measures in the same act are not closures and are recorded here as what they are: a contraflow lane reserved for urban buses on οδός Βασιλέως Κωνσταντίνου between Κλεομένους Οικονόμου and Κολοκοτρώνη, and a stopping and parking ban on both sides of that same stretch. 🔑 What makes this page unusual in this corpus's Greek set is not the closure but the second document.

A Greek pedestrianisation order almost never prints the terms of access — who may still drive in, when a shop may be supplied, what a delivery lorry may weigh — because the Highway Code leaves those to a municipal «κανονισμός λειτουργίας», and this project has been stopped by exactly that gap three times: Nafpaktia's regulation is not obtainable at all, Patras's is inside an unpublished technical report, and Skala's sits on a portal closed by its own robots file.

Aigialeia published its own. Council decision 10/2025 (ΑΔΑ: 9Β43Ω6Χ-314) approves the «Κανονισμός Κυκλοφοριακής Οργάνωσης και Στάθμευσης - Κανονισμός Λειτουργίας Πεζοδρόμων Δήμου Αιγιαλείας» as a PDF on the municipality's website, and it is read in full below. 🚨 Two limits, and both are the publisher's rather than this project's.

The order commences «από την τοποθέτηση των οικείων πινακίδων σήμανσης ή των διαγραμμίσεων στο οδόστρωμα» — when the signs or the road markings go in — and nobody has published the day that happened, so `effective_from` is null and this page cannot tell you whether the bollards are up.

And the act contradicts itself about the town plan: recital 30 says council decision 345/2024 «κινήθηκε η διαδικασία τροποποίησης του σχεδίου πόλεως Αιγίου», that the amendment procedure was started, while recitals 32 and 42 say the same decision 345/2024 is the one by which «εγκρίθηκε η τροποποίηση του σχεδίου πόλεως του Αιγίου για την πεζοδρόμηση των οδικών τμημάτων» — that it was approved.

Both sentences are in the same eight-page issue. No presidential planning decree for it was found in the gazette.

Εθνικό Τυπογραφείο (National Printing House) — Εφημερίδα της Κυβερνήσεως, ΦΕΚ Β' 2399/15.05.2025, Αριθμ. 32589ΛΔχ: the decision of the Γραμματέας Αποκεντρωμένης Διοίκησης Πελοποννήσου, Δυτικής Ελλάδας και Ιονίου approving decision 52/2025 of the municipal council of Δήμος Αιγιαλείας

Daily charge

Nothing is charged and there is nothing to buy. The act is a traffic-regulation measure under article 52 §1 of the Highway Code: it makes five stretches pedestrian streets and establishes no zone that is entered on payment, no tariff, no camera and no registration. The word «τέλος» appears nowhere in it.

The municipal regulation that governs access does price two things, and neither is an entry charge — it requires a permit for a resident driving to a private parking space on a pedestrian street and for a removal, concrete or building-materials lorry, and it states that the cost of the signing and the road marking falls on the municipality's own budget.

A driver who has no right to be on one of these streets is not short of a payment; the consequence is the Highway Code penalty recorded under `penalty`.

When it operates

There are no hours, and that is the act's own shape rather than a fact this project failed to find. The approved measures are flat pedestrianisations — «Πεζοδρόμηση της οδού …» for each of the five stretches, with a start junction and an end junction and nothing else.

The act prints no clock, no weekday, no season and no calendar date other than its own publication, so the closure stands at every hour of every day. 🚨 The one commencement sentence it does print is conditional rather than dated: «Τα μέτρα που λαμβάνονται σύμφωνα με την παρούσα απόφαση ισχύουν από την τοποθέτηση των οικείων πινακίδων σήμανσης ή των διαγραμμίσεων στο οδόστρωμα» — the measures take effect from the placing of the relevant signs or of the road markings.

That is the usual Greek clause, and as usual nobody has published the day it was satisfied. 🔑 The only clock anywhere in this scheme belongs to the other publisher, and it is not an opening.

The municipality's own «Κανονισμός Λειτουργίας Πεζοδρόμων Δήμου Αιγιαλείας» (council decision 10/2025, cited under `sources`) sets the hour in which shops on a pedestrian street may be supplied — «Δευτέρα έως Παρασκευή και Σαββατοκύριακο από 02:30 έως 09:30 το πρωί» — and sets the quiet hours in which a permit for a heavy vehicle may not be used.

A supply window admits one class of vehicle; it does not hand the street to traffic, and it is recorded in `how_to_comply` rather than as an opening here.

Εθνικό Τυπογραφείο — Εφημερίδα της Κυβερνήσεως, ΦΕΚ Β' 2399/15.05.2025: the operative part of Αριθμ. 32589ΛΔχ, which prints no hour, weekday or season anywhere, and its commencement condition in the list of terms

Area covered

The urban core of Aigio — «ο αστικός πυρήνας του Αιγίου» in the act's own words — and within it five stretches rather than the whole.

The act's operative part lists them as: i.

Items vi and vii add the bus lane and the parking ban on οδός Βασιλέως Κωνσταντίνου between Κλεομένους Οικονόμου and Κολοκοτρώνη. 🚨 No measurement of any kind is published — no length, no width, no area, not one ΕΓΣΑ 87 coordinate pair.

The extent is given entirely by street names and junctions, and by the drawings the act certifies: the September 2024 approved traffic study «όπως εξειδικεύτηκαν με την Τεχνική Έκθεση για την “Πεζοδρόμηση της οδού Κλεομένους Οικονόμου”» together with its attached diagrams Χ-1, Χ-2, Χ-3, Χ-4 and Χ-5 and its Παράρτημα 1 of March 2025.

Those five diagrams are published with the issue and cannot be read from it: measured on 2026-09-25, pages 24426, 24427, 24428, 24429 and 24430 yield nothing but their own running page numbers, five bare numbers in a row where the prose should be, and the whole eight-page issue gives 12 498 characters of text from 11 content streams — every one of them the decision's own words.

Five unreadable pages, five certified diagrams.

Εθνικό Τυπογραφείο — Εφημερίδα της Κυβερνήσεως, ΦΕΚ Β' 2399/15.05.2025: the operative list i to vii of Αριθμ. 32589ΛΔχ, and recital 28 for the traffic study, the technical report and the five diagrams

Why there is no map here
The geometry was published and cannot be read, which is the Patras and Kozani finding rather than the Agia one. Recital 28 of the act certifies the September 2024 approved traffic study as specified by the technical report «Πεζοδρόμηση της οδού Κλεομένους Οικονόμου» together with its attached diagrams Χ-1, Χ-2, Χ-3, Χ-4 and Χ-5 and its Παράρτημα 1 of March 2025, and the operative part is granted «σύμφωνα με … το διάγραμμα που τη συνοδεύει». The drawings are published with the issue: measured on 2026-09-25, the eight-page ΦΕΚ Β' 2399/15.05.2025 is 9 604 312 bytes and yields 12 498 characters of text from 11 content streams, all of it the decision's prose, and pages 24426 to 24430 yield nothing but their own page numbers — five bare numbers in sequence, one for each of the five certified diagrams. So the extent exists in the published issue as images and cannot be converted into a boundary from it. 🚫 No boundary was derived from the street names either: a line drawn between the named junctions would be this project's line rather than the publisher's, and D-096 forbids presenting it as the latter. The municipality's regulation carries no geometry at all — it names no street in Aigio and is written for the pedestrian streets of the whole municipality.

The authority's own map: Δήμος Αιγιαλείας, Διεύθυνση Τεχνικών Υπηρεσιών, through Αποκεντρωμένη Διοίκηση…

Petrol standard

This scheme sets no emission threshold, and the absence is structural rather than unrecorded. A pedestrianisation asks whether a vehicle may be on the street at all, not what comes out of its exhaust.

Neither publisher contains an emission criterion: the act is made under article 52 §1 of the Highway Code and names no Euro class, no fuel type and no registration year, and the municipal regulation's only vehicle thresholds are a gross weight of sixteen tonnes for the permits it allows and the classes it admits by function — ambulance, police, fire, utility, hearse, refuse lorry, disabled badge.

Diesel standard

The same as for petrol, and for the same structural reason. No Euro class, fuel type or registration year appears anywhere in the act or in the municipal regulation. The regulation distinguishes vehicles by what they are doing and how much they weigh, never by what they burn.

Penalty if you do not comply
€350.00 🔑 The chain turns on one word, and on this page the word lines up better than it usually does in Greece. The Highway Code forbids driving «σε πλατείες, πεζόδρομους, πεζοδρόμια» — on squares, pedestrian streets and pavements — and the question on every Greek page in this corpus has been whether the local instrument's own word maps onto the Code's noun «πεζόδρομος». Here the act's operative verb is «πεζοδρόμηση» for each of the five stretches, and the municipality's own regulation, approved three months earlier and cited by that act, is titled «Κανονισμός Λειτουργίας Πεζοδρόμων Δήμου Αιγιαλείας» and legislates for the πεζόδρομοι of this municipality throughout. The instrument's word and the Code's word are the same word. 🔑 Every figure below was read from the statute for this cycle on 2026-09-25 rather than inherited from this corpus's other Greek records: article 20 §4 of ν. 5209/2025 forbids the driver to circulate on pedestrian streets «εκτός από περιπτώσεις απολύτου ανάγκης ή όταν ειδικές ρυθμίσεις το επιτρέπουν»; article 20 §8 β) classifies a breach of §4 «στην κατηγορία Ε3-Β και στην κατηγορία Σ»; article 108 §5 γ) γα) prices a category Ε3-Α breach at «διοικητικό πρόστιμο τριακοσίων πενήντα (350) ευρώ»; §5 γ) γβ) adds, for Ε3-Β, withdrawal of the driving licence and of the vehicle's registration documents for thirty (30) days; and §5 δ) adds a further forty (40) days' withdrawal of the licence for the category Σ classification. ⚠️ For a visitor in a hire car, the measure against the vehicle's registration documents is a matter between the renter and the rental company that the Code does not address. 🚨 Two honest limits, and they are about the ground rather than the tariff. First, the act commences on the placing of the signs or markings and no one has published that date, so this project cannot tell you what plate or bollard stands at the corner of Κλεομένους Οικονόμου and Ερμού today. Second, the act's own recitals disagree about whether the town plan has been amended to match, and a ΚΟΚ traffic order cannot by itself make a street a pedestrian street in the planning sense — that is the publisher's own doctrine elsewhere in this corpus. If the plan designation is still pending, what an officer prices may be disobedience of the sign rather than this provision. The figure above is what the Code charges for driving a pedestrian street; it is not a promise about which paragraph a particular ticket will cite.

Article 2 §56 for the definition of a pedestrian street and for the access it carries; article 20 §4 and §8 β) for driving on one and for the category it falls in; article 108 §5 γ) and δ) for the tariff and the licence measures

How to comply
  • Do not drive the five pedestrianised stretches in the urban core of Aigio: οδός Κλεομένους Οικονόμου between Βασιλέως Κωνσταντίνου and Ερμού; οδός Ασημάκη Φωτήλα between Βασιλέως Κωνσταντίνου and Ταξιαρχών; οδός Βαλφούρ between Ανδρέα Λόντου and Ασημάκη Φωτήλα; οδός Ανδριανοπούλου between Ανδρέα Λόντου and Κλεομένους Οικονόμου; and οδός Γερμανού between Κλεομένους Οικονόμου and Πολυχρονιάδου. The closure is all day, every day.
  • 🔑 The cross streets that name the ends are not closed. Βασιλέως Κωνσταντίνου, Ερμού, Ταξιαρχών, Ανδρέα Λόντου and Πολυχρονιάδου are how the act says where a pedestrianised stretch starts and stops; they are the boundary, not the subject.
  • ⚠️ Βασιλέως Κωνσταντίνου stays open, and it carries two separate rules of its own between Κλεομένους Οικονόμου and Κολοκοτρώνη. One lane there runs against the flow and is «αποκλειστικά για αστικά λεωφορεία» — exclusively for urban buses — so do not use it; and stopping and parking are banned on both sides of that stretch. Neither measure is a pedestrianisation and neither is encoded in this record's timetable.
  • 🔑 If you live on one of these streets and park off it, there is a route in, and it needs paper. The municipality's regulation admits, around the clock, «Των αυτοκινήτων ιδιωτικής χρήσεως από και προς χώρους στάθμευσης παρόδιων ιδιοκτησιών» — private cars to and from the parking of abutting properties inside the pedestrianised area — but only «εφόσον είναι εφοδιασμένα µε ειδική άδεια», with a special permit issued by the municipality stating its period of validity and the vehicle's registration number. The same round-the-clock admission covers private cars using a licensed private car park whose entrance is on the pedestrian street, private cars heading to a licensed vehicle repair shop with an entrance on it provided they do not park on it, and disabled-badge cars to and from a permanent residence inside the area.
  • 🔑 Emergencies need no permit, and the regulation lists them. Admitted at any hour «µόνο για την αντιμετώπιση περιπτώσεων επείγουσας ανάγκης»: ambulances and cars carrying patients, Hellenic Police vehicles, Fire Service vehicles, public-utility vehicles and hearses. Municipal refuse lorries and technical-service vehicles doing maintenance work are admitted around the clock as well.
  • ⚠️ A heavy vehicle needs a permit, and the ceiling is sixteen tonnes. With a time-limited special permit issued by the municipality after an opinion from the Traffic Police, on weekdays and at weekends, the regulation allows house-removal lorries, ready-mixed concrete lorries and pumps, demolition and excavation debris lorries, and building-materials lorries, each «μικτού βάρους μέχρι δεκαέξι (16) τόνων» and each permit naming its validity and the plate. 🚫 Those permits are not issued for the quiet hours: winter, from 1 October to 31 March, 15:30–17:30 and 22:00–07:30; summer, from 1 April to 30 September, 15:00–17:30 and 23:00–07:00. Pedestrian streets in exclusively commercial use, with no dwelling on them, are exempt from that restriction and may be permitted round the clock — the regulation does not say which of Aigio's streets those are.
  • ⚠️ Deliveries have an hour, and it is the middle of the night. Unless a council decision provides otherwise, supplying businesses, retail and food supermarkets and other shops, and loading or unloading goods generally, including heating-oil deliveries, is to be done «Δευτέρα έως Παρασκευή και Σαββατοκύριακο από 02:30 έως 09:30 το πρωί». A supply vehicle must not block another frontager's supply and must stop only as long as the job needs. 🚫 This is not a general opening: it admits supply vehicles, and the street is closed to everyone else throughout.
  • 🔑 Whatever is admitted moves at walking pace. The regulation is explicit: the speed of vehicles allowed in «δε θα υπερβαίνει την ταχύτητα κινήσεως των πεζών, οι οποίοι σε οποιαδήποτε περίπτωση έχουν προτεραιότητα» — it shall not exceed the pace of the pedestrians, who have priority in every case. Tracked vehicles and machinery are banned outright, reversing is banned unless a person on foot is guiding you, U-turns are banned, and the holder of a vehicle owes the municipality for any damage its driving or parking causes on a pedestrian street.
  • 🚨 Expect the ground to be the thing you actually obey, and treat this page as the authority for the rule rather than for the kerb. The order takes effect when the signs or the road markings go in, and no publisher has said when that was. If a stretch is open and signed as open, that is a question for Δήμος Αιγιαλείας, not something this page can answer.
  • 🚫 Nothing here says the rest of Aigio or of Aigialeia is unrestricted. This act covers five stretches of the Aigio core and two measures on one adjoining street. The municipality makes its own traffic regulations under article 52 of the Highway Code and its regulation is written for the pedestrian streets of the whole municipality, which has six other δημοτικές ενότητες; there will be measures this project has not read.
  • Nothing is payable and nothing is to be bought in advance. There is no entry charge, no ticket and no registration — only the municipal permits described above, for residents' access and for heavy vehicles.
