Driving in Antiparos: Limited traffic zone

Antiparos, Greece · Limited traffic zone

Official name Ζώνη αποκλειστικής κυκλοφορίας πεζών και ΑμεΑ επί της παραλιακής οδού στο λιμένα της πόλεως Αντιπάρου (απόφ. Δ.Σ. 27/2026, ΦΕΚ Β' 5547/10.09.2026)

In force in Antiparos right nowTuesday, 13 October 2026 at 12:05 · Europe/Athens

  • In force Every vehicle on the regulated length of the seafront road at the port of Antiparos town, except those the Ρ-55 sign admits by statute — emergency vehicles, and vehicles entering or leaving a property fronting that road

An empty window list here means all day, every day, and it is the decision's own shape rather than a default we fell back on. The operative text prints no hour, no weekday and no season anywhere, so there is no window to encode and no month to except.

🚨 This timetable cannot tell you whether the rule has commenced. The decision makes the measures effective from the installation of the signs and gives no date for that, so a verdict of "in force" here means "in force whenever the signs are up", not "in force since a day we know". That is why effective_from is null on this record.

The zone is about 270 m of one road. A verdict of "in force" says that stretch of the seafront road at the port is a pedestrian zone; it says nothing about any other street in Antiparos town, and we hold no boundary that could tell you which street you are on.

The exceptions cannot be seen by a timetable. Emergency vehicles and vehicles going in and out of a property on the road are admitted at every hour the rule is in force, so for them this schedule over-warns always rather than sometimes.

Public holidays are not encoded because the decision does not mention them. It exempts no day of the year, and a rule with no clock has no holiday variant to encode.

Operating times only, read from the source below. It does not check your vehicle.

What applies

Antiparos is a small Cycladic island, and the road this record is about is the seafront road at the port of its one town — the strip a driver coming off a boat meets first.

A decision gazetted on 10 September 2026 turns a length of it into a zone reserved for pedestrians and for people with disabilities, and the striking thing about the rule, for anyone used to Greek town-centre regulations, is what it leaves out: there are no hours. No opening time, no closing time, no season, no weekday.

Where the corpus's other Greek pedestrian schemes print a window beside every street — Hersonissos closes its eight segments «από 01-05 έως 31.10 και από ώρες από 18:00 έως 05:00» — this one prints none at all, so the zone reads as permanent and the answer to "when can I drive down there" is simply never. 🔑 The extent is published with unusual precision and unusual narrowness at the same time.

The decision gives no street name and no map. It gives two survey points in the Greek national grid, ΕΓΣΑ 87 — 596306 / 4099552 marked «Αρχή», the start, and 596205 / 4099801 marked «Τέλος», the end — and the signs to be planted at each.

Those two numbers are 101 metres apart east to west and 249 metres apart north to south on the grid, which is a stretch of roughly 270 metres of one road: that is our arithmetic on the published figures, not a distance the municipality states. ⚠️ Nobody is named as exempt.

Unlike Hersonissos, which lists four categories of driver who may still enter, this decision lists none — but it does order sign Ρ-55, and the Highway Code writes the exceptions into the sign itself: «απαγορευμένης της διέλευσης άλλων εκτός πεζών, οχημάτων άμεσης ανάγκης και οχημάτων για την είσοδο - έξοδο σε παρόδιες ιδιοκτησίες».

Pedestrians, emergency vehicles, and vehicles going in and out of a property on that road. A visitor is none of those, and there is no permit, no day pass and no charge of any kind anywhere in the act. ⚠️ The most important caveat is about time, and it is the publisher's own.

The decision's third condition says the measures take effect «από την τοποθέτηση των οικείων πινακίδων σήμανσης» — from the moment the signs go up — and it does not say when that is. So this record cannot tell you the day the zone started.

It can tell you the act exists, that it has been gazetted, and that the day the signs appear is the day it bites; if you are there and the posts are bare, the act has not caught up with the ground yet, and if there is a Ρ-55 sign facing you, it has. 🚨 **And this is not the only pedestrianisation on Antiparos.** A second decision of the same authority, gazetted three weeks earlier on 19 August 2026, amends a 2021 act — «την τροποποίηση της υπ’ αρ.

So somewhere on this island a *periodic* pedestrianisation now runs from 15 January to 15 December every year — eleven months. 🚫 **Which streets, and at what hours, this project cannot tell you**, and it is important to say so rather than let this page imply the seafront zone is the whole story: the 2021 act it amends was never published in the gazette, the amendment reproduces none of it, and antiparos.gr answers HTTP 403 behind Cloudflare to the home page and to robots.txt alike.

What is published is a season without a map. This record covers the port seafront zone and nothing else.

Signed at Piraeus on 3 September 2026 by Κωνσταντίνος Ντουφεξής - Αμουργιανός, deputy head of the Διεύθυνση Τεχνικού Ελέγχου

Daily charge

Nothing is charged, and there is nothing to buy. The decision creates a pedestrian zone, orders the signs that mark its two ends, attaches seven administrative conditions addressed to the municipality, and stops.

No tariff, no permit, no resident's card, no visitor day pass and no fee of any kind appears in it — the only sum of money printed anywhere in this gazette issue belongs to a different item, the Athens sign budget, and has nothing to do with Antiparos. ⚠️ Absence of a charge is not absence of a consequence: the price of driving in is in `penalty`, and it is a fine and a licence measure rather than a ticket you can buy in advance.

When it operates

There are none, and that is the rule rather than a gap in it. The operative text of the decision runs from «Εγκρίνουμε» to the seventh condition without printing a single hour, weekday, month or season: no «από ώρες», no «έως», no «Δευτέρα έως Παρασκευή», no summer window.

The zone it creates is described only as a zone of exclusive circulation of pedestrians and people with disabilities, and a zone with no timetable is closed to traffic at every hour of every day. 🔑 That is worth stating plainly because it is the opposite of what the rest of this corpus's Greek records do.

Athens, Piraeus, Ilioupoli, Galatsi, Dafni-Ymittos, Irakleio Attikis and Hersonissos all rest on decisions that print an explicit clock, usually to the minute, and several of them print a season as well; here the same kind of authority, approving the same kind of municipal act under the same articles of the same Code, printed no clock at all. ⚠️ The decision does contain two dates-and-durations, and neither of them is an opening hour.

The third condition makes the measures effective «από την τοποθέτηση των οικείων πινακίδων σήμανσης» — from the installation of the signs — which is a commencement rule with no date attached to it; and the closing paragraph gives anyone with a legal interest thirty days from notification to appeal to the Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, which is a remedy, not a window in which you may drive. ⚠️ Public holidays are not mentioned anywhere, so nothing in the act lifts the restriction on one. 🚨 **A second Antiparos scheme does have a season, and it is not this one.** ΦΕΚ Β' 5212/19.08.2026 amends the 2021 act behind a separate «περιοδική πεζοδρόμηση» on the island so that its period «διαμορφώνεται από 15 Ιανουαρίου έως 15 Δεκεμβρίου εκάστου έτους» — 15 January to 15 December every year — and states «Κατά τα λοιπά η υπ’ αρ.

32813/09-07-2021 απόφαση Α.Δ.Αι παραμένει ως έχει». 🚫 That season belongs to streets this record does not cover and must never be read onto the port seafront zone: the 2021 act is not in the gazette, the amendment reproduces neither its streets nor its hours, and the municipality's site is closed to us. The absence of hours on THIS decision is still the absence of hours on this decision.

The claim made here is a claim about that text containing no time expression, which is why the watched strings below bracket it rather than quote an hour

Area covered

One length of the seafront road at the port of Antiparos town, and the decision identifies it by survey rather than by name. It prints a two-row table headed «ΣΗΜΕΙΑ ΤΟΠΟΘΕΤΗΣΗΣ ΚΑΤΑΚΟΡΥΦΩΝ ΠΙΝΑΚΙΔΩΝ» — points at which to erect vertical signs — and the rows are: «1 (Αρχή) 596306 4099552 Ρ-55, Π-60, Πρ-4α» and «2 (Τέλος) 596205 4099801 Ρ-55, Π-60, Πρ-4γ».

The figures are ΕΓΣΑ 87, the Greek national grid, in metres, and the decision calls them «ενδεικτικές» — indicative. Point 1 is the start of the zone and point 2 the end.

Subtracting one from the other gives 101 m of easting and 249 m of northing, so the regulated stretch is on the order of 270 m of one road; that subtraction is ours and is offered as a sense of scale, not as a figure the municipality published. 🔑 What the three sign codes mean is fixed by the Highway Code and is the clearest description of the zone available.

Ρ-55 is «Οδός υποχρεωτικής διέλευσης πεζών (πεζόδρομος…)», the pedestrian-street sign — so although the decision's own words are «ζώνη αποκλειστικής κυκλοφορίας πεζών και ΑμεΑ», the thing it plants on the ground is legally a πεζόδρομος, which is what brings article 20 §4 and its penalty into play. Π-60 is «Άτομα με αναπηρία», the persons-with-disability sign, matching the ΑμεΑ half of the zone's name.

Πρ-4α and Πρ-4γ are the start-of-validity and end-of-validity plates, which is exactly how they are used here, one at «Αρχή» and one at «Τέλος». ⚠️ There is a mismatch worth carrying rather than smoothing over: the Code defines Πρ-4α and Πρ-4γ as the start and end of the validity of signs Ρ-39 or Ρ-40, the stopping and parking prohibitions, and neither Ρ-39 nor Ρ-40 is ordered here.

The municipality has used them as generic start and end plates for a Ρ-55. We record the combination as printed and do not resolve it. ⚠️ No street name, no map and no polygon: the decision names the road only as «η παραλιακή οδός στο λιμένα της πόλεως Αντιπάρου», the seafront road at the town's port, and two points are a line rather than a shape.

See `boundary_coverage`.

Why there is no map here
This is the rarest of the reasons in the corpus: the publisher gave us surveyed coordinates and they still cannot become a boundary. The decision prints two ΕΓΣΑ 87 points, «1 (Αρχή) 596306 4099552» and «2 (Τέλος) 596205 4099801», and calls them «ενδεικτικές» — indicative. Two points describe a line, and our boundary contract is a MultiPolygon; the same mismatch that made Recife's bus lanes published_unusable, arrived at from the opposite direction, because there the publisher shipped centrelines and here the publisher shipped endpoints. Turning two endpoints into an area would mean inventing a width for a road we have never measured and a course for it between the two posts, and both of those would be our line rather than the municipality's. 🚫 It does NOT heal by reading the gazette more carefully — the two rows are the whole of the published geometry, the issue carries no site plan for this item, and the text is fully readable (scripts/check-strings.mjs: «holds», 8 content streams). ✅ It heals if the Δήμος Αντιπάρου publishes the technical service's study as geometry, or if the decision's «ενδεικτικές» points are ever replaced by a described perimeter. ⚠️ The municipality's own site could not be asked: antiparos.gr and www.antiparos.gr both answer HTTP 403 from a Cloudflare challenge page, on robots.txt as well as on the home page, which under RFC 9309 is a full disallow and is respected as one. Διαύγεια, where council decision 27/2026 (ΑΔΑ: Ψ838ΩΨΘ-ΖΧΦ) sits, is closed to us by its own robots.txt. map_url therefore points at the gazette issue itself, which is where the published extent actually is — as two rows of a table rather than as a drawing, and a reader should know that before clicking.

The authority's own map: Αποκεντρωμένη Διοίκηση Αιγαίου / Δήμος Αντιπάρου, Τεχνική Υπηρεσία, through…

Petrol standard

This scheme sets no emission threshold, and the absence is structural rather than unrecorded. The decision asks two questions about a vehicle — is it on the regulated stretch of the seafront road, and is it one of the kinds the Ρ-55 sign still admits — and it asks nothing about what comes out of the exhaust. A Euro 6 hire car is barred exactly as a Euro 1 one is.

Greece publishes no national low-emission scheme of the Italian or German kind that this project has read, and this record makes no claim either way about one.

Diesel standard

The same as for petrol, and for the same structural reason: the decision contains no emission class of any kind, for any fuel. The only vehicle characteristics that matter here are function and destination — emergency vehicle, or a vehicle entering or leaving a property on the road — and neither distinguishes a diesel from a petrol vehicle at any hour.

Penalty if you do not comply
€350.00 The decision prints no figure at all, and the €350 is read from the statute. Driving a vehicle on a πεζόδρομος is prohibited by article 20 §4 of ν. 5209/2025, the Greek Highway Code in force; article 20 §8 β) puts a breach of §4 in category Ε3-Β and in category Σ; and article 108 §5 γ) γα) prices the Ε3 tariff at «διοικητικό πρόστιμο τριακοσίων πενήντα (350) ευρώ». 🚨 The money is the smaller half. Under article 108 §5 γ) γβ) an Ε3-Β breach carries that fine PLUS withdrawal of the driving licence and of the vehicle's registration documents for thirty days, and under §5 δ) a breach also in category Σ carries a further forty days' withdrawal of the licence on top of that. For a hire car in a visitor's hands, a measure against the vehicle's registration documents is a measure against papers that are not theirs, and the Code does not say how a rental company's documents are treated, so this record does not either. ⚠️ And there is a second, much cheaper route to the same act, which a driver should know exists even though we cannot say which one an officer on Antiparos would use. Article 7 §11 ζ) classifies failure to comply with the obligation imposed by sign Ρ-55 — the sign this very decision orders — in category Ε1-Α and in category Σ, and article 108 §5 α) αα) prices Ε1-Α at «διοικητικό πρόστιμο τριάντα (30) ευρώ», with the forty-day licence measure still attached by the Σ classification. So the Code reaches the same car through two provisions that differ by an order of magnitude in the fine and by thirty days in the vehicle measure, and nothing we hold chooses between them. We publish the higher one, because a driver planning a trip should be told the worse case and because driving past a Ρ-55 onto the road behind it is what article 20 §4 describes. 🔑 Stopping or parking on a pedestrian street, as opposed to driving along one, is a different and smaller offence: article 38 §2 ι) with §11 α), category Ε1-Α, €30, halved for mopeds and motorcycles.Source: Εθνικό Τυπογραφείο, read 2026-09-23

How to comply
  • Treat the regulated length of the seafront road at the port as closed to your vehicle at all times. There is no hour at which it opens, no season in which it lapses and no day of the week that is different: the decision creates a pedestrian and ΑμεΑ zone and attaches no timetable to it whatsoever.
  • Look for the signs rather than for a line on a map, because the signs are how this zone is defined and how it commences. The decision orders Ρ-55 — the round blue pedestrian-street sign — together with Π-60 and a start-of-validity plate at one end and an end-of-validity plate at the other. The stretch between those two posts is the zone, and it is on the order of 270 m.
  • ⚠️ If the posts are bare, the rule has not started yet. The third condition of the decision makes the measures effective «από την τοποθέτηση των οικείων πινακίδων σήμανσης», from the installation of the signs, and gives no date for that. This record therefore cannot tell you the day it began. The presence of a Ρ-55 facing you is the answer on the ground.
  • ⚠️ You are almost certainly not exempt, and you should not go looking for a permit, because there is none. The decision names no category of admitted driver at all. What admits anyone is the sign itself: the Highway Code defines Ρ-55 as barring everything «εκτός πεζών, οχημάτων άμεσης ανάγκης και οχημάτων για την είσοδο - έξοδο σε παρόδιες ιδιοκτησίες» — pedestrians, emergency vehicles, and vehicles going in or out of a property fronting that road.
  • If your accommodation fronts the regulated stretch, that last exception is the one that might cover you, and it is worth asking the owner about before you arrive rather than deciding at the barrier. Ask specifically whether the property's access is on the seafront road inside the signed zone and whether they expect guests to drive to the door; a general "yes, there is parking" does not answer it.
  • Otherwise, park outside the two plates and walk. The zone is a few hundred metres long, and the decision offers no drop-off arrangement, no loading window and no delivery hours — a road that is a πεζόδρομος at every hour has no window in which stopping becomes lawful.
  • ⚠️ Do not read the ΑμεΑ half of the zone's name as permission to drive in with a disabled badge. The zone is «αποκλειστικής κυκλοφορίας πεζών και ΑμεΑ» and the Π-60 sign is posted, but the Highway Code has a specific plate for admitting disabled people's vehicles by special authorisation — Πρ-4δ, «Επιτρέπεται μόνο για οχήματα ατόμων με αναπηρία ύστερα από ειδική άδεια» — and this decision does not order it. What it does order is that the regulations must not adversely affect people with disabilities. Those are different things and we do not know which the municipality meant.
  • ⚠️ The price of getting it wrong is not a parking ticket. Driving on a pedestrian street is a category Ε3-Β and category Σ breach of the Greek Highway Code: €350, plus thirty days' withdrawal of the driving licence and the vehicle's registration documents, plus a further forty days' withdrawal of the licence. The Code also reaches the same act through sign non-compliance at €30 plus the forty days, and nothing we hold says which an officer will use — plan for the larger one.
  • There is nothing to buy and nowhere to buy it. No permit, no day pass, no online form and no charge appears anywhere in the decision, so anything offering to sell you access to the Antiparos waterfront is not the municipality.
  • 🚨 There is a second pedestrianisation on Antiparos and we cannot map it for you. A decision gazetted on 19 August 2026 amends a 2021 act so that the period of a «περιοδική πεζοδρόμηση» on the island runs «από 15 Ιανουαρίου έως 15 Δεκεμβρίου εκάστου έτους» — eleven months of every year — without reproducing which streets it closes or at what hours. The 2021 act was never gazetted and the municipality's site is unreachable, so treat any Ρ-55 sign you meet elsewhere on Antiparos as live even though this page does not describe it.
  • ⚠️ Do not expect the municipality's own website to confirm any of this. antiparos.gr and www.antiparos.gr both answer HTTP 403 behind a Cloudflare challenge, to the home page and to robots.txt alike, so this record rests on the national gazette and on the Highway Code. If a sign on the ground says something different from this page, the sign is the law.
