Not in force in Filiates right nowTuesday, 13 October 2026 at 12:05 · Europe/Athens

  • Not in force Every vehicle on the road opposite the church of Άγιος Δημήτριος in Φιλιάτες, between the two points the act surveys. The act writes «απαγόρευση κυκλοφορίας οχημάτων» and names no class of vehicle, no sign and no exemption — not even for emergency vehicles. 🚨 A sign will be there on the ground, because condition 2 makes the measure effective from the placing of one, but the act does not say which sign, so no statutory carve-out can be read into it the way sign Ρ-55 supplies one on the corpus's Πλατανιάς page.

🚨 THIS TIMETABLE COVERS ABOUT FORTY-TWO METRES OF ROAD AND NOTHING ELSE IN ΦΙΛΙΆΤΕΣ. The act closes the stretch «από το σημείο Α (Χ: 182722.33, Ψ: 4389704.38) έως το σημείο Β (Χ: 182704.47, Ψ: 4389665.88)» opposite one church. Every other street in the town is open at every hour. A verdict of "in force" here is a verdict about one short length of road on a summer evening.

The window crosses midnight and is encoded that way, 19:00 to 01:00. The small hours belong to the previous evening's closure.

⚠️ The last night of the season therefore ends on 16 September. The closure that begins at 19:00 on 15 September runs to 01:00, which is the 16th, and the 16th is excepted here as a whole day — so a one-hour under-warning falls on exactly one morning of the year. It is stated rather than papered over.

🚨 This timetable cannot tell you whether the rule has commenced. Condition 2 makes the measures effective «από την τοποθέτηση των οικείων πινακίδων σήμανσης, των σηματοδοτών ή των διαγραμμίσεων στο οδόστρωμα, εκτός αν κατά τον χρόνο ισχύος των μέτρων αυτών η κυκλοφορία ρυθμίζεται από στελέχη της αρμόδιας Αστυνομικής Αρχής» — from the placing of the signs, unless an officer is directing traffic at the time. No publisher has dated the placing, and a police officer at the junction overrides the sign in either direction.

⚠️ No vehicle is exempt in the act's own words, and that includes ambulances and fire engines. This is unusual enough to be worth saying plainly: the same corpus's Γλυφάδα and Πλατανιάς material carries an emergency-vehicle exemption, in the first case written into the closure and in the second supplied by the sign code. Here there is neither. It does not follow that an ambulance may not pass — it follows that this record has no source saying so, and is not going to invent one.

Public holidays are not encoded, because the act does not mention them. It exempts no day, and 15 August — the busiest holiday of the Greek summer — falls squarely inside the season.

⚠️ Access for disabled people is not addressed at all. The act's recitals cite the ministry's guidance on disabled parking spaces, and its operative part says nothing about them, so this record cannot tell a disabled driver what the arrangement on this road is.

Operating times only, read from the source below. It does not check your vehicle.

What applies

Φιλιάτες is a small town in Θεσπρωτία, in the Epirus region of north-west mainland Greece. One street in it stops being a street on summer evenings. From 15 June to 15 September every year, every day of the week, between seven in the evening and one in the morning, vehicles may not use the road opposite the church of Άγιος Δημήτριος.

The measure is decision 101/2024 of the municipal council of Δήμος Φιλιατών, approved by the Γραμματέας of the Αποκεντρωμένη Διοίκηση Ηπείρου - Δυτικής Μακεδονίας at Ιωάννινα on 8 November 2024 and gazetted four days later. 🔑 THE RARE THING IN THIS ACT IS THAT IT SAYS WHERE. Every other Greek closure in this corpus describes its extent in words and leaves the drawing unpublished.

This one prints two surveyed points in the national grid — «από το σημείο Α (Χ: 182722.33, Ψ: 4389704.38) έως το σημείο Β (Χ: 182704.47, Ψ: 4389665.88)» — and those two points are about 42 metres apart.

So the closure is not a district or a quarter or an ambiguous stretch of seafront: it is a single short length of road, fixed to the ground by the authority that ordered it. 🔑 And it says «κάθε έτους» — of each year — in so many words. That matters because its nearest sibling in this corpus, the Πλατανιάς evening closure, does not, and there the annual recurrence had to be published as an inference.

Here it is a quotation. 🚨 WHAT THIS RECORD CANNOT TELL YOU IS THE FINE, AND THAT IS A DELIBERATE BLANK RATHER THAN AN OVERSIGHT. The act prints no figure.

It also names no sign — where the Πλατανιάς act orders Ρ-55 and the Κάρπαθος act orders Ρ-7, this one orders «οι οικείες πινακίδες σήμανσης» as a category and stops — so the Greek Highway Code's sign tariff has nothing to attach to. And it never calls the road a πεζόδρομος, which is the other route this corpus has used to price a Greek closure.

The result is a real restriction with no sourceable price, and it is published as exactly that. ⚠️ One more thing the act does not do: it does not exempt anybody. There is no emergency-vehicle carve-out written into it, no residents' clause and no delivery window.

Compare the Γλυφάδα fire-risk closure of 2025, which exempted «τα οχήματα έκτακτης ανάγκης» in its operative sentence; this one says «απαγόρευση κυκλοφορίας οχημάτων» and leaves it there.

Δημητρίου για την θερινή περίοδο 15/06 έως 15/09”», signed at Ιωάννινα on 8 November 2024

Daily charge

Nothing is charged and there is nothing to buy. The act approves a κυκλοφοριακή ρύθμιση — a traffic regulation — under article 52 of the Greek Highway Code, and it creates no permit, no day ticket, no residents' scheme and no application of any kind. Apart from the clock, the dates and the two grid coordinates, no number appears in it.

When it operates

Seven in the evening until one in the morning, every day of the week, from 15 June to 15 September each year: «για την θερινή περίοδο από 15/6 έως 15/9 κάθε έτους, καθ’ όλη τη διάρκεια της εβδομάδας και για τις ώρες από 07:00 μ.μ. έως 01:00 π.μ.».

The act writes the clock on a twelve-hour dial with μ.μ. and π.μ. — p.m. and a.m. — and it is encoded here as 19:00 to 01:00, a window that crosses midnight. 🔑 The recurrence is quoted, not inferred. «κάθε έτους» — of each year — is in the operative sentence, and the technical description the act approves says the same: «από 7:00μ.μ. έως 1:00 π.μ.) κάθε έτους».

That is the difference from the Πλατανιάς record in this corpus, where the act names two months without a year and the annual return had to be published as a reading rather than a quotation. ⚠️ Both ends of the season are split months, and the 15th of September is the one day this record is least sure about. The act writes «από 15/6 έως 15/9» without the «και» — «up to and including» — that the Κάρπαθος act uses.

This record treats 15 September as inside the season, which warns a driver off a road that may be open rather than the other way round, and says so here rather than presenting the reading as the act's own words. ⚠️ Commencement is not given.

Condition 2 applies the measures «από την τοποθέτηση των οικείων πινακίδων σήμανσης, των σηματοδοτών ή των διαγραμμίσεων στο οδόστρωμα» — from the placing of the signs — which is article 55 §7 of the current Highway Code reproduced into the approval, and no publisher has dated that placing. So this record states no date on which the scheme took effect.

Area covered

One road, opposite one church, for about forty-two metres — and this act is the only one in this corpus's Greek set that says so in surveyed coordinates rather than in words. The operative part closes «την απαγόρευση κυκλοφορίας οχημάτων από το σημείο Α (Χ: 182722.33, Ψ: 4389704.38) έως το σημείο Β (Χ: 182704.47, Ψ: 4389665.88)», on the road «έναντι του Ιερού Ναού Αγ.

Δημητρίου στον οικισμό Φιλιατών». 🔑 Those are Greek Grid figures — ΕΓΣΑ 87, the national transverse Mercator system — and they are what makes this extent checkable. Converted for this record on 2026-09-28, point A falls at 39.598341, 20.305096 and point B at 39.597988, 20.304907, and the straight-line distance between the published values is about 42 metres.

The two converted points sit 416 m from the OpenStreetMap node for the town of Φιλιάτες, which is the independent check that the grid pair lands where the act says it does. 🚫 No street name is available from anywhere.

The act names none — it identifies the road by the church it faces — and the map does not supply one either: measured on OpenStreetMap on 2026-09-28, nine highway ways run within 120 metres of point A and not one of them carries a name. 🚫 Nor is the landmark on the map.

No place of worship of any kind is mapped within 1.5 km of point A, so the church the act navigates by cannot be used to find the road on a digital map. What is on the ground is a sign, and the act does not say which one. ⚠️ Two points are a segment, not an area, and this record publishes no polygon.

The technical description that would carry the drawing — «Η Θεωρημένη Τεχνική Περιγραφή από τη Τεχνική Υπηρεσία Πολεοδομίας και Περιβάλλοντος του Δήμου Φιλιατών» — is named in the recitals and in condition 1 and is not in the gazette.

Why there is no map here
No drawing is published, and yet this is the best-located Greek record in the corpus — the two facts sit together and both need saying. 🔑 WHAT IS PUBLISHED IS BETTER THAN A DESCRIPTION AND LESS THAN A MAP. The act fixes the closure between two surveyed points in the national grid, «από το σημείο Α (Χ: 182722.33, Ψ: 4389704.38) έως το σημείο Β (Χ: 182704.47, Ψ: 4389665.88)», which converts to 39.598341, 20.305096 and 39.597988, 20.304907 and spans about 42 metres. That pins the regulated stretch to the ground without any drawing at all, and it is the first act in this corpus's Greek set to do so for both ends of what it closes. ⚠️ But two points are a segment, not a polygon: they say where the closure starts and stops along one road and nothing about width, side or junction, so no boundary is published here. 🚫 The document that would carry the geometry is named and absent: «Η Θεωρημένη Τεχνική Περιγραφή από τη Τεχνική Υπηρεσία Πολεοδομίας και Περιβάλλοντος του Δήμου Φιλιατών» appears in the twenty-sixth recital and binds the municipality under condition 1, and measured on 2026-09-28 the four-page issue yields 20 849 characters from 13 content streams with nothing falling back to a guessed encoding, so there is nothing in the file to open and rule unusable — there is nothing in it. 🚫 Drawing the municipality relation instead would be wrong by three orders of magnitude: relation/2227644 is 33.54 km north to south and 44.81 km east to west, and this measure is about 42 metres of one road. The city-level warning stands, and the extent is stated in the act's own coordinates.

Petrol standard

This scheme sets no emission threshold, and the absence is structural rather than unrecorded: it is a seasonal closure of one road under the Greek Highway Code, not a low-emission zone. The act contains no Euro class, no fuel type and no vehicle age. A new car and a twenty-year-old one are treated identically — both are simply not allowed on that stretch between 19:00 and 01:00 in high summer.

Diesel standard

The same as for petrol, and for the same structural reason: the act contains no emission class of any kind, for any fuel. ⚠️ Worth stating separately for diesel, because a reader arriving from this corpus's Italian or German pages will expect a diesel-specific rung and there is none here. An electric car is inside this closure too.

Penalty if you do not comply

🚨 NO AMOUNT IS PUBLISHED HERE BECAUSE NONE COULD BE SOURCED, AND THE SEARCH THAT FAILED IS WORTH SETTING OUT. The act prints no figure. Three separate routes to one were tried on 2026-09-28 and all three ended in the same place.

(1) THE SIGN TARIFF DOES NOT ATTACH, BECAUSE NO SIGN IS NAMED. ν. 5209/2025 article 7 §11 prices disobedience sign by sign — Ρ-7 into category Ε2-Β, Ρ-55 into Ε1-Α and Σ, and so on — and this act orders «οι οικείες πινακίδες σήμανσης» as a category, without a code.

The corpus's Πλατανιάς and Κάρπαθος pages could run that chain; this one cannot, and taking a sibling record's number would be exactly the mistake that chain was built to prevent. (2) THE PEDESTRIAN-STREET ROUTE DOES NOT ATTACH EITHER. The corpus's Αγιά page prices a closure through article 20 §4, which forbids driving «σε πλατείες, πεζόδρομους, πεζοδρόμια», on the reading that a πεζοδρόμηση makes a πεζόδρομος.

This act contains neither noun. The string «πεζόδρομ» occurs once in the whole four-page issue, inside the quoted title of article 48 of the old Code in condition 5 — «Κατάληψη τμήματος οδού και πεζόδρομου» — which is a citation of an article heading and not a description of this road. (3) AND ARTICLE 55 DOES NOT PRICE ITS OWN BREACH.

Article 55 is the power the measure is taken under, and its penalty sentences reach only two things: breaches of decisions under article 112 §16 and under article 111 §16 ζ), each «κατατάσσεται στην κατηγορία Ε2-Α».

Neither is a municipal seasonal closure approved by a Γραμματέας Αποκεντρωμένης Διοίκησης. ➡️ So there is a real restriction on that road and no price this project can quote for breaking it. ⚠️ That is not the same as saying it is free: a sign stands on the road, and whatever code is on it carries a tariff.

This record simply does not know which, and will not guess.

How to comply
  • Between 15 June and 15 September, do not drive on the road opposite the church of Άγιος Δημήτριος in Φιλιάτες after seven in the evening. It reopens at one in the morning. There is no ticket to buy and no permit to hold.
  • 🔑 The rest of the year and the rest of the day are open. The restriction is three months of the year and six hours of the night; outside those it is an ordinary road.
  • ⚠️ Do not go looking for a street name, because there is not one to find. The act identifies the road by the church it faces and gives two survey points rather than a name, and measured on OpenStreetMap on 2026-09-28 none of the nine roads within 120 metres of the published point carries a name either. What marks the closure is a sign; the act requires one but does not say which.
  • ⚠️ And do not rely on finding the church on a digital map. Measured on the same day, no place of worship is mapped within 1.5 km of the published point. The landmark the act navigates by is local knowledge.
  • 🚨 No exemption is written into this act — not for emergency vehicles, not for residents, not for deliveries. The corpus's other Greek evening closures either name an exemption or inherit one from the sign code they order; this one does neither. If you live on the stretch, the act does not say you may drive to your door.
  • 🚨 This record cannot tell you what it costs to get it wrong, and the reason is set out under the penalty heading on this page: the act prints no figure, names no sign, and does not call the road a pedestrian street, so none of the three tariffs in the Greek Highway Code that this project has used elsewhere can be shown to attach. Treat the sign you find on the road as the authority.
  • An officer at the junction outranks the sign. Condition 2 applies the measures from the placing of the signs «εκτός αν κατά τον χρόνο ισχύος των μέτρων αυτών η κυκλοφορία ρυθμίζεται από στελέχη της αρμόδιας Αστυνομικής Αρχής» — unless traffic is being directed by the police at the time.
  • 🔑 Walking is the point of it. Condition 5 requires that «Να εξασφαλίζεται η ασφαλής διέλευση των πεζών» — the safe passage of pedestrians is to be assured — citing the Code's article on occupying part of a road or pedestrian street. Expect people in the carriageway on summer evenings.
  • The buses are unaffected. Condition 3 records that «Οι προτεινόμενες ρυθμίσεις δεν επηρεάζουν τις υπηρεσίες των μέσων μαζικής μεταφοράς».
