In force in Nafplio right nowTuesday, 13 October 2026 at 12:04 · Europe/Athens

  • In force Every vehicle at the four places the act signs with Ρ-55: the municipal road between blocks Ο.Τ. 70 and Ο.Τ. 64 in front of the 1st Gymnasium of Nafplio, from Skoumpi to the Nafplio–N. Kiou coast road, and the pedestrian street crossing it as far as Oiakos; Averof in front of the church of Agia Triada between Gen. Kolokotroni and Giannopoulou, and Averof between Papakostopoulou and Ach. Paraschou at Plateia Ethnosynelefseos in Pronia; the pedestrian streets running off Palamidiou; and Praxitelous, Lykourgou and Solonos in Pronia. Emergency vehicles and vehicles going in and out of parking on properties fronting the street are excepted by the Highway Code's own definition of Ρ-55 at every hour, and that exemption cannot be expressed as a timetable; it is described in `how_to_comply`.

The empty window list is the sign's own shape and not a missing fact. Ρ-55 is a permanent regulatory sign, the act attaches no additional plate to it anywhere, and it prints no season, no weekday and no hour, so a verdict of "in force" is correct at every hour of every day. 🚫 It must not be read as an hour this project failed to find.

🚨 This timetable cannot tell you whether the signs are up, and that is the act's own doing rather than this project's. The act says the measures «ισχύουν από την τοποθέτηση της προβλεπόμενης κατακόρυφης και οριζόντιας σήμανσης» — they apply from the placing of the signing — and leaves that to the municipality's technical service. There is no gazetted commencement date to record, and `effective_from` is null for that reason and not for want of looking.

🚨 This is four signed places, not the map of pedestrian Nafplio. The pedestrian streets themselves were designated by council decision 115/30.05.2025, which covers every such designation in the municipality and is not in the gazette. The Old Town below the Palamidi is not described on this page at all. 🚫 A driver must not read the absence of a street from this record as permission to drive it.

⚠️ One of the four places is not named street by street, and the act leaves it that way. «Στους κάθετους πεζόδρομους στην οδό Παλαμηδίου» — the pedestrian streets perpendicular to Palamidiou — gives neither names nor a count. This record prints the act's phrase rather than guessing which lanes it means.

⚠️ One hour could still exist somewhere this project has not read. If the municipality's standing pedestrian-street regulation admits supply traffic at named hours, this timetable over-warns for those hours, which is the safe direction. The regulation is not in the gazette and nafplio.gr answered a Cloudflare challenge on 2026-09-24, which this project does not work around.

The decision can lapse without another gazette issue: it «ανακαλείται αυτοδίκαια» if its conditions are not kept or if the reasons for the municipal decision cease. That is a way this record could become wrong quietly, and it is watched on the issue rather than assumed away.

Public holidays are not encoded, because the act does not mention them. It exempts no day and no date.

Operating times only, read from the source below. It does not check your vehicle.

What applies

Nafplio is the first capital of modern Greece and one of the country's most walked towns, and on 24 July 2026 the Αποκεντρωμένη Διοίκηση Πελοποννήσου, Δυτικής Ελλάδας και Ιονίου gazetted a decision that puts no-entry signs on four groups of its pedestrian streets. 🔑 The act approves «η τοποθέτηση ρυθμιστικών πινακίδων Ρ-55» — regulatory sign Ρ-55 — at four named places: the municipal road between town-plan blocks Ο.Τ.

70 and Ο.Τ. 64 in front of the 1st Gymnasium, running from Skoumpi street to the Nafplio–N. Kiou coast road, together with the pedestrian street crossing it as far as Oiakos; Averof street in front of the church of Agia Triada between Gen.

Kolokotroni and Giannopoulou, and Averof again between Papakostopoulou and Ach. Paraschou at Plateia Ethnosynelefseos, both in the Pronia district; the pedestrian streets running off Palamidiou street; and the municipal streets Praxitelous, Lykourgou and Solonos, also in Pronia. 🔑 Ρ-55 is not a mild sign.

The Highway Code defines it as «Οδός υποχρεωτικής διέλευσης πεζών (πεζόδρομος, απαγορευμένης της διέλευσης άλλων εκτός πεζών, οχημάτων άμεσης ανάγκης και οχημάτων για την είσοδο - έξοδο σε παρόδιες ιδιοκτησίες)» — a road for the compulsory passage of pedestrians, with everything else barred except emergency vehicles and vehicles going in and out of frontage properties.

The exceptions are the Code's, not the municipality's, and they are the only ones. 🚨 And the act says plainly when it starts, which is the most unusual thing about it: «Τα μέτρα που λαμβάνονται σύμφωνα με την παρούσα, ισχύουν από την τοποθέτηση της προβλεπόμενης κατακόρυφης και οριζόντιας σήμανσης» — the measures apply from the moment the signs go up. Not from publication, not from a date.

So `effective_from` is null here because the act refuses to give a date, not because this project failed to find one, and the sign on the street is the authority. ⚠️ Read this page for what it is: this act does not create Nafplio's pedestrian streets, it signs four groups of them.

The streets were designated by council decision 115/30.05.2025, «την έγκριση του κανονισμού όλων των χαρακτηρισμών πεζόδρομων εντός των διοικητικών ορίων του Δήμου Ναυπλιέων», which is not in the gazette and which this project has not read — the municipality's own site answered a Cloudflare challenge on 2026-09-24 and we do not work around one. 🚫 So the famous Old Town below the Palamidi is not described here.

Nothing on this page says which of its lanes are pedestrian streets, and a driver should not read four signed places as the whole map of a town that has many more. There is no season, no clock, no charge and no permit anywhere in this act.

Εθνικό Τυπογραφείο (National Printing House) — Εφημερίδα της Κυβερνήσεως, ΦΕΚ Β' 4592/24.07.2026, Αριθμ. 55415ΠΕΩ of the Αποκεντρωμένη Διοίκηση Πελοποννήσου, Δυτικής Ελλάδας και Ιονίου, approving decision 77/30.03.2026 of the Δημοτικό Συμβούλιο Ναυπλιέων under articles 55, 111 and 112 of ν. 5209/2025; read together with article 7 of the same law for what Ρ-55 is

Daily charge

Nothing is charged and there is nothing to buy. The act approves the placement of signs under articles 55, 111 and 112 of the Highway Code; it creates no permit, no resident card, no day ticket and no tariff, and no sum of money appears anywhere in its operative text or in its five conditions.

It states in terms that the cost of implementing the measures does not fall on the state budget, which is a statement about the municipality's own spending and not about a charge on drivers. ⚠️ One document could in principle carry a charge and this project has not read it: the pedestrian-street designations themselves come from council decision 115/30.05.2025, the municipality's standing regulation on every pedestrian-street designation within its boundaries, which the act cites and does not reproduce. 🚫 It is not in the gazette, and the Δήμος Ναυπλιέων website could not be read on 2026-09-24: nafplio.gr and www.nafplio.gr both answer HTTP 403 with a Cloudflare interstitial titled «Just a moment...» on both the home page and robots.txt.

That is bot protection, and this project does not work around bot protection. So this is an unread document rather than a document known to contain no charge, and this record says so instead of claiming the scheme is free of one.

When it operates

There are no hours, and that is the sign's own shape rather than a gap in it. Ρ-55 is a permanent regulatory sign, not a timed one, and the act attaches no season, no weekday, no clock and no additional plate to any of the four places. A driver arriving at 03:00 in February meets the same rule as one arriving at 18:00 in August. 🔑 What replaces a timetable here is what the Highway Code says the sign means.

Article 7 of ν. 5209/2025 defines Ρ-55 as «Οδός υποχρεωτικής διέλευσης πεζών (πεζόδρομος, απαγορευμένης της διέλευσης άλλων εκτός πεζών, οχημάτων άμεσης ανάγκης και οχημάτων για την είσοδο - έξοδο σε παρόδιες ιδιοκτησίες)», and article 2 §56 defines a «πεζόδρομος» the same way.

Both exceptions — emergency vehicles, and vehicles going in and out of parking on properties fronting the street — turn on who you are and where you are going rather than on the hour, which is why this record's timetable has no windows at all. 🚨 The date question here is unusual and the act answers it by refusing to give a date.

Its own commencement clause reads «Τα μέτρα που λαμβάνονται σύμφωνα με την παρούσα, ισχύουν από την τοποθέτηση της προβλεπόμενης κατακόρυφης και οριζόντιας σήμανσης» — the measures apply from the placing of the vertical and horizontal signing, which the municipality's technical service carries out.

There is therefore no gazetted day on which this began, `effective_from` is null for that stated reason, and the sign on the street is the thing that decides. ⚠️ A second clause can end it without another gazette issue: «η απόφαση αυτή ανακαλείται αυτοδίκαια, σε περίπτωση μη τήρησης των όρων» — the decision is revoked automatically if the conditions attached to it are not kept, or if the reasons for the municipality's decision cease. 🔑 And one thing this page does not know: whether any of these four places also appears in the municipality's standing pedestrian-street regulation with hours of its own.

Council decision 115/2025 designates every pedestrian street in the municipality and is not published in the gazette; if it admits supply traffic between named hours, as the comparable regulations in Mytilene and elsewhere in this corpus do, then this page over-warns during those hours. That is the safe direction, and it is stated rather than assumed away.

Area covered

Four places in Nafplio, and the act lists them as points where a sign goes rather than as an area. 🔑 In its own words the Ρ-55 signs go: «Στη δημοτική οδό μεταξύ των Ο.Τ. 70 και Ο.Τ.

64 έμπροσθεν του 1ου Γυμνασίου Ναυπλίου από την οδό Σκουμπή έως την Παραλιακή οδό Ναυπλίου Ν. Κίου και στον κάθετο σε αυτόν πεζόδρομο έως την οδό Οίακος» — the municipal road between town-plan blocks Ο.Τ. 70 and Ο.Τ.

64, in front of the 1st Gymnasium, from Skoumpi street down to the Nafplio–N. Kiou coast road, and the pedestrian street crossing it as far as Oiakos street.

Παράσχου στην πλατεία Εθνοσυνελεύσεως στην περιοχή της Πρόνοιας εντός Σχεδίου Πόλης Ναυπλίου» — two separate stretches of Averof, one in front of the church of Agia Triada and one at Plateia Ethnosynelefseos, both in the Pronia district. Third, «Στους κάθετους πεζόδρομους στην οδό Παλαμηδίου» — the pedestrian streets running perpendicular to Palamidiou.

Fourth, «Στις δημοτικές οδούς Πραξιτέλους, Λυκούργου και Σόλωνος στην Πρόνοια, εντός Σχεδίου Πόλης Ναυπλίου». ⚠️ The third of those four is deliberately reproduced rather than resolved.

It names no street and gives no number, so this record cannot tell a driver how many lanes off Palamidiou are covered or which they are; the study and the signing diagrams that would answer it are annexed to the act and are not published with it. 🚨 And the boundary of the whole thing is narrower than the town.

Three of the four places are in Pronia, the nineteenth-century quarter east of the headland, and one is beside the Gymnasium; the Old Town inside the walls is not among them. That does not mean the Old Town is open — it means this act is not about it.

The pedestrian streets of Nafplio as a whole are designated by council decision 115/30.05.2025, which this act cites as its twenty-third recital and does not reproduce. 🚫 There is no geometry. The gazette carries the signing diagrams as pictures: scripts/read-source.mjs extracts 8 533 characters from the 9.5 MB issue, all of it from the text pages, while pages 49772 to 49776 produce nothing but the running header.

The act publishes no coordinates of any kind — no ΕΓΣΑ 87 table, no sign position and no bounding point — and locates its sites by street name, by church and by town-plan block number instead.

Why there is no map here
The scheme was drawn before it was gazetted and the drawings are pictures. The act governs by «τα αναφερόμενα στις σχετικές εγκεκριμένες Τεχνικές Κυκλοφοριακές Μελέτες και τα διαγράμματα σήμανσης που τις συνοδεύουν», and ΦΕΚ Β' 4592/2026 carries those signing diagrams as image pages: scripts/read-source.mjs extracts 8 533 characters from the 9.5 MB issue, all of it from the text pages, while pages 49772 to 49776 produce nothing but the running header. 🔑 The act publishes no coordinates of any kind — no ΕΓΣΑ 87 table, no sign position, no bounding point — and locates its four sites by street name, by church and by town-plan block number. Our boundary contract is a MultiPolygon, and one of the four sites cannot be turned into geometry even in principle, because the act does not say which streets it means: «Στους κάθετους πεζόδρομους στην οδό Παλαμηδίου» names neither a lane nor a count. ⚠️ It does not heal by reading the gazette in a better viewer, and this cycle measured that rather than assuming it. scripts/pdf-stream-prose.py scores this file «prose 0 · unmapped 11 · noise 12 · did-not-inflate 18» — the seventh confirmation of the D-272 shape, because the reader returns 8 533 fully watchable characters from the same file and all twenty-two strings watched on it hold. 🚨 That measurement could not be taken at all until a bug in the script was fixed in this cycle: this file contains the three bytes `0 NUL 3` after a backslash inside a string literal, and the octal-escape branch trimmed its digit run from the tail rather than taking it from the front, so int() raised on it and the whole run died (D-287). ✅ It heals if the Δήμος Ναυπλιέων publishes its pedestrian-street regulation and the signing study as geometry. ⚠️ That question could not be asked in this cycle: nafplio.gr and www.nafplio.gr both answer HTTP 403 with a Cloudflare interstitial titled «Just a moment...», on the home page and on robots.txt alike, measured on 2026-09-24. That is bot protection and this project does not work around it. Διαύγεια, where council decisions 77/2026 and 115/2025 sit under the ΑΔΑ codes the act prints, is closed by its own robots.txt and we respect it.

The authority's own map: Αποκεντρωμένη Διοίκηση Πελοποννήσου, Δυτικής Ελλάδας και Ιονίου / Δήμος…

Petrol standard

This scheme sets no emission threshold, and the absence is structural rather than unrecorded. Ρ-55 asks two questions about a vehicle — is it an emergency vehicle, and is it going in or out of a property that fronts the street — and it asks nothing at all about what leaves the exhaust. A Euro 6 hire car is barred exactly as a Euro 1 one is.

Diesel standard

The same as for petrol, and for the same structural reason: neither the act nor the sign contains an emission criterion of any kind, and nothing in either turns on fuel, age or engine.

Penalty if you do not comply
€350.00 The act prints no figure, and every number here is read from ν. 5209/2025, the Greek Highway Code in force since 13 September 2025, which was read for this cycle on 2026-09-24 rather than inherited. 🚨 Unlike the Kozani acts in this corpus this one DOES print a sign code, and that makes the corpus's standing warning matter here rather than being theoretical: the two routes the Code offers differ by more than a factor of ten. Driving a vehicle on a pedestrian street is prohibited by article 20 §4, which forbids a driver to circulate «σε πλατείες, πεζόδρομους, πεζοδρόμια, νησίδες ασφαλείας» except in cases of absolute necessity or where special regulations permit it; article 20 §8 β) classifies that breach «στην κατηγορία Ε3-Β και στην κατηγορία Σ»; article 108 §5 γ) γα) prices a category Ε3 breach at «διοικητικό πρόστιμο τριακοσίων πενήντα (350) ευρώ», §5 γ) γβ) adds withdrawal of the driving licence and of the vehicle's registration documents for thirty (30) days, and §5 δ) adds a further forty (40) days' withdrawal of the licence for the category Σ classification. 🔑 The other route is the plate as a plate, and it is far cheaper. Article 7 §11 ζ) puts non-compliance with «τις πινακίδες Ρ-33, Ρ-54, Ρ-55, Ρ-56, Ρ-65, Ρ-66, Ρ-66α, Ρ-67, Ρ-67α, Ρ-76» in «την κατηγορία Ε1-Α και στην κατηγορία Σ», and article 108 §5 α) αα) prices a category Ε1-Α breach at «διοικητικό πρόστιμο τριάντα (30) ευρώ» — thirty euro, plus the forty days the Σ classification adds. ⚠️ So as a sign offence Ρ-55 is one of the cheapest in the Code, and a reader who knows only that this scheme is signed Ρ-55 would badly under-estimate the exposure. What closes the gap is the Code's own definition of the sign: article 7 calls Ρ-55 «Οδός υποχρεωτικής διέλευσης πεζών (πεζόδρομος, …)», a pedestrian street, in the same breath — so a driver who passes one is on a πεζόδρομος and article 20 §4 reaches them at €350 whether or not the plate is also charged. This record publishes the larger figure because a driver should plan for the worse case, and prints the smaller one rather than hiding it; nothing this project holds says which one an officer in Nafplio writes. ⚠️ For a visitor in a hire car, the measure against the vehicle's registration documents is a matter between the renter and the rental company that the Code does not address.

Article 7 for the definition of Ρ-55 and, in §11 ζ), for the category a breach of that sign falls in; article 2 §56 for the definition of a pedestrian street; article 20 §4 and §8 β) for driving on one and for the category it falls in; article 108 §5 α), γ) and δ) for the two tariffs and the licence measures; articles 55, 111 and 112 for the powers the act is taken under

How to comply
  • Where you meet a round sign with a red border and a walking figure on a blue field — Ρ-55 — do not drive past it. In Nafplio the act puts that sign at four places: the municipal road in front of the 1st Gymnasium between blocks Ο.Τ. 70 and Ο.Τ. 64, running from Skoumpi down to the Nafplio–N. Kiou coast road, and the pedestrian street crossing it as far as Oiakos.
  • Averof street in Pronia is signed twice: in front of the church of Agia Triada, between Gen. Kolokotroni and Giannopoulou, and again between Papakostopoulou and Ach. Paraschou at Plateia Ethnosynelefseos.
  • The pedestrian streets running off Palamidiou are signed too. ⚠️ The act does not name them or say how many there are, so treat every lane off Palamidiou as one until the sign at its mouth tells you otherwise.
  • Praxitelous, Lykourgou and Solonos, also in Pronia, are signed as well.
  • 🔑 Two kinds of vehicle are excepted, and the exception comes from the Highway Code rather than from the municipality. The Code defines Ρ-55 as a road for the compulsory passage of pedestrians «απαγορευμένης της διέλευσης άλλων εκτός πεζών, οχημάτων άμεσης ανάγκης και οχημάτων για την είσοδο - έξοδο σε παρόδιες ιδιοκτησίες» — barred to everything except pedestrians, emergency vehicles, and vehicles going in and out of frontage properties. If your accommodation is on one of these streets, that second exception is what you are relying on, and it is about the property, not about the hour.
  • 🚨 Do not treat this page as the map of pedestrian Nafplio. This act signs four places; it does not designate them. Every pedestrian street in the municipality was designated by council decision 115/30.05.2025, which is not published in the gazette and which the municipality's own website would not serve when this record was written. The Old Town inside the walls is not described here at all, and a street's absence from this page is not permission to drive it.
  • ⚠️ The rule starts when the sign goes up, not on a date. The act says in terms that its measures apply «από την τοποθέτηση της προβλεπόμενης κατακόρυφης και οριζόντιας σήμανσης», and leaves the placing to the municipality's technical service. So there is no commencement date to look up: what is on the post in front of you is the rule.
  • ⚠️ The cost of getting it wrong is up to €350 plus licence measures, and the sign itself is a poor guide to it. As a plain sign offence Ρ-55 is one of the cheapest in the Code — €30 plus forty days' withdrawal of the driving licence. But Ρ-55 marks a pedestrian street, and driving on a pedestrian street is €350 plus thirty days' withdrawal of the licence and of the vehicle's registration documents plus a further forty days. `penalty` sets out both routes and why this page publishes the larger one.
  • There is nothing to buy and nowhere to buy it. No permit, no resident card, no day pass and no charge appears anywhere in the act, and it states that implementing the measures does not fall on the state budget. The one document that could still carry a condition is the municipality's pedestrian-street regulation, which this project has not been able to read; treat it as unread rather than as empty.
  • 🚫 One gazette issue about these same streets must be ignored, and it is the earlier one. ΦΕΚ Β' 4257/14.07.2026 was revoked by this act because it named the municipal council of Agrinio instead of that of Nafplio. If you find it, it is not the rule.
