Official name Κυκλοφοριακές ρυθμίσεις για την περιοδική πεζοδρόμηση στην Άνω Αγορά, στον οικισμό Βασιλικών Δήμου Δυτικής Λέσβου (αποφ. Δ.Σ. 101/2025, ΦΕΚ Β' 4055/28.07.2025)

Not in force in Vasilika right nowTuesday, 13 October 2026 at 12:05 · Europe/Athens

  • Not in force Every vehicle in the Άνω Αγορά of Vasilika, Monday to Saturday.
  • Not in force Every vehicle in the Άνω Αγορά of Vasilika on Sundays, when the act opens the closure ten and a half hours earlier than on the other six days.

🔑 Sunday is a separate rule because the act makes it one. «και για τις Κυριακές από τις 10:00 το πρωί έως τις 02:00 το βράδυ» is written as an addition to the weekday window, not as a replacement of the season, so the two rules share a season and differ only in their start. 🚫 Merging them into a single 20:30 window would say the square is open on Sunday afternoons, which the act says it is not.

Both windows end at 02:00 — two in the morning — so both cross midnight and are encoded that way. 🚫 Flattening either to an end of 00:00 would say the square reopens two hours early every night of the season.

⚠️ The Sunday window ends on a Monday morning, and the weekday window on the following calendar day. The schedule encodes each window by the day it opens on. That is what the act's own sentence does; it never addresses the crossing.

⚠️ The last night of the season spills into October. The period ends on 30 September, but the window that opens that evening runs to 02:00, which is October. The schedule encodes the season by month, so those small hours fall outside it — a two-hour under-warning on exactly one night of the year, stated here rather than papered over.

🚨 This timetable cannot tell you whether the rule has commenced. The act makes the measures effective «από την τοποθέτηση των οικείων πινακί-δων σήμανσης» and gives no date for that, so a verdict of "in force" means "in force whenever the signs are up". That is why `effective_from` is null.

This covers the Άνω Αγορά of Vasilika and nothing else. The same gazette item closes streets in Skala Kallonis and Mithymna under different seasons and different hours; those are separate records, and nothing here describes them.

The exceptions cannot be seen by a timetable. Vehicles going in and out of a property on the closed square are admitted by the Highway Code's own definition of a πεζόδρομος at every hour the rule is in force, so for them the schedule over-warns in every window.

Public holidays are not encoded, because the act does not mention them. It exempts no day, and 15 August falls inside the season — in 2026 on a Saturday, so the weekday 20:30 window applies to it and not the Sunday one.

Operating times only, read from the source below. It does not check your vehicle.

What applies

Vasilika is a village in the south of Lesbos, inland from the Gulf of Kalloni, and for four months of the year its upper market square closes to traffic in the evening — and on Sundays from mid-morning. From 1 June to 30 September the Άνω Αγορά is a pedestrian street from 20:30 until 02:00, and on Sundays from 10:00 until 02:00.

The rule is clause Γ) of a decision of the Αποκεντρωμένη Διοίκηση Αιγαίου, signed at Piraeus on 18 July 2025 and gazetted on 28 July 2025, approving decision 101/2025 of the municipal council of Δήμος Δυτικής Λέσβου. 🔑 The Sunday clause is what makes this record worth having: it is the only Greek closure in this corpus that distinguishes one weekday from the rest, and it does so by opening ten and a half hours earlier.

Every other Greek scheme here names a single window and lets it run every day. ⚠️ Vasilika is a village rather than a resort, and this page does not pretend otherwise — it is here because the act is complete, the extent is signed at eight surveyed points, and a driver crossing southern Lesbos on a Sunday afternoon has no other way to learn that the square is shut. 🔑 This gazette item carries three settlements of one municipality — Vasilika, Skala Kallonis and Mithymna — each its own record here.

Daily charge

Nothing is charged and there is nothing to buy. The clause closes one square for part of the day during one season; it creates no permit, no day ticket and no resident scheme, and no figure of any kind appears in it. ⚠️ It does defer to a standing municipal pedestrianisation regulation — «σύμφωνα με τα προβλεπόμενα στον ισχύοντα κανονισμό πεζοδρόμησης» — which the act neither numbers nor reproduces, so this is the absence of a published permit rather than proof that no permit exists.

When it operates

One season, two clocks, split by the day of the week — and the act prints both in one sentence: «στην Άνω Αγορά κατά την περίοδο από 1η Ιουνίου έως 30η Σεπτεμβρίου από τις 20:30 το απόγευμα έως 02:00 το βράδυ και για τις Κυριακές από τις 10:00 το πρωί έως τις 02:00 το βράδυ».

From 1 June to 30 September: Monday to Saturday from 20:30 until 02:00, and Sundays from 10:00 until 02:00. 🔑 **This is the only weekday distinction in the corpus's Greek set.** Every other Greek closure this project holds — Kalymnos, Sifnos, Antiparos, Hersonissos, Mytilene, Megalochori, Skala Kallonis, Mithymna — names one window and applies it to every day.

Here the publisher singles out Sunday and opens the closure ten and a half hours earlier, which is what a village square does when the market and the church empty into it. 🔑 Both windows end at «02:00 το βράδυ», two in the morning, so both cross midnight into the following day and are encoded that way. ⚠️ The Sunday window's end is therefore in the small hours of Monday; the act does not say so in terms, and this record does not claim it does — it encodes the window the act wrote, starting on Sunday. ⚠️ The act does not write «κάθε έτους».

The season is treated as annual on the same footing as its sibling clauses in the same decision: permanent signage is ordered with supplementary plates «για την περίοδο και το ωράριο εφαρμογής», and the dates carry no year. ⚠️ Commencement is not given: the measures run from the installation of the signs and the act names no date, which is why `effective_from` is null.

Area covered

One named square and eight surveyed sign positions.

The act regulates the periodic pedestrianisation «στον οικισμό Βασιλικών Δήμου Δυτικής Λέσβου στην Άνω Αγορά» — in the settlement of Vasilika, in the Upper Market — and prints a table headed ΠΕΡΙΟΔΙΚΗ ΠΕΖΟΔΡΟΜΗΣΗ ΟΙΚΙΣΜΟΥ ΒΑΣΙΛΙΚΩΝ with eight positions in ΕΓΣΑ 87. 🔑 All eight carry the same code set — «Ρ-7, Ρ-55, Πρ» — on the same rows as the coordinates, so the signing is uniform and nothing has to be guessed: the square is closed on all eight approaches with the pedestrian-street sign and the no-entry sign together. 🚫 Still not a boundary: eight points do not close a polygon, no street is named at all, and no drawing accompanies the item.

An inverse transverse-Mercator conversion puts the eight within roughly 150 m of each other — a derived sanity figure computed for this note, appearing nowhere as a published coordinate. ⚠️ One detail about that heading is worth stating plainly, because an earlier version of this page got it the wrong way round.

The gazette prints ΠΕΡΙΟΔΙΚΗ ΠΕΖΟΔΡΟΜΗΣΗ ΟΙΚΙΣΜΟΥ ΒΑΣΙΛΙΚΩΝ, correctly — verified on 28 September 2026 by reading the same file with a second, independent PDF reader. It is this site's own text extraction that mangles it into ΒΑΣωΙΛΙΚΩΝ with a stray lower-case ω.

The damaged form is kept in the automated checks that watch this act for changes, because that is what the checks actually see; the publisher spelled the village's name properly.

Why there is no map here
The published extent is one named square — the Άνω Αγορά — plus eight surveyed sign positions in the Greek national grid, all eight carrying the same pair of prohibitory plates. 🔑 The signing is uniform and attributed, which is more than the Santorini act manages; 🚫 but eight points do not close a polygon, not one street is named, and no drawing accompanies the item. A visitor is told which village and which square, and must read the signs for the rest.

Petrol standard

This scheme sets no emission threshold, and the absence is structural rather than unrecorded. It is a pedestrianisation under the Greek Highway Code: the test is whether a vehicle may be there at all during the closed hours, not what it emits.

Diesel standard

The same as for petrol, and for the same structural reason: the act contains no emission criterion of any kind, and nothing in it turns on fuel, age or engine.

Penalty if you do not comply
€350.00 The act prints no figure at all; every number here is read from the statute, and the Code was read for this cycle on 2026-09-23 rather than inherited. Driving a vehicle on a pedestrian street is prohibited by article 20 §4 of ν. 5209/2025, the Greek Highway Code in force since 13 September 2025, and article 20 §8 β) classifies a breach of §4 in category Ε3-Β and additionally in category Σ. Article 108 §5 γ) γα) prices a category Ε3 breach at «διοικητικό πρόστιμο τριακοσίων πενήντα (350) ευρώ»; §5 γ) γβ) adds withdrawal of the driving licence and of the vehicle's registration documents for thirty days; §5 δ) adds a further forty days' withdrawal of the licence for category Σ. ⚠️ For a visitor in a hire car the measure against the vehicle's papers is a matter between the renter and the rental company that the Code does not address. 🔑 The word and the signs agree, and here they agree at every approach: the clause says «περιοδική πεζοδρόμηση» and all eight surveyed positions carry Ρ-55 together with Ρ-7. That uniformity is why this record has no split of the kind Mithymna's does. ⚠️ The smaller routes still belong on the page. Failing to obey sign Ρ-55 as a sign is classified by article 7 §11 ζ) in category Ε1-Α and in category Σ — €30 under §5 α) αα) plus forty days' withdrawal of the licence. Sign Ρ-7, «Απαγορεύεται η είσοδος σε όλα τα οχήματα», is classified by article 7 §11 ε) in category Ε2-Β: €150 plus twenty days under §5 β) ββ). This record publishes the largest figure because a driver should plan for the worst case, and states the others rather than hiding them.Source: Εθνικό Τυπογραφείο, read 2026-09-23

How to comply
  • Between 1 June and 30 September, do not drive into the Άνω Αγορά of Vasilika after 20:30 — and on Sundays, not after 10:00 in the morning. Both closures run until 02:00, past midnight.
  • 🔑 Sunday is the day to watch. It is the only weekday any Greek closure in this corpus singles out, and it opens ten and a half hours earlier than the other six. A driver who knows the 20:30 rule and not the Sunday one will arrive into a closed square on the day it is most likely to be busy.
  • Outside 1 June to 30 September the square is an ordinary street at every hour, and inside the season it is an ordinary street every morning and afternoon until 20:30 on the six non-Sunday days.
  • Park outside and walk in. The act signs eight approaches, all of them with the same pair of plates, so there is no quiet way in during the closed hours.
  • ⚠️ The last night of the season spills into October. The period ends on 30 September, but the window that opens that evening runs to 02:00 — so the first two hours of 1 October are still inside the last closure of the year. This page's timetable encodes the season by month and will say "not in force" for those hours; the signs are what govern.
  • ⚠️ If the post is bare, the rule has not started yet. The act's third condition makes the measures effective «από την τοποθέτηση των οικείων πινακί-δων σήμανσης, των σηματοδοτών ή των διαγραμμίσεων στο οδόστρωμα» — from the installation of the signs — and gives no date for that.
  • You are admitted if you live or are staying on the square. Article 4 §56 of the Highway Code defines a πεζόδρομος as a road used exclusively by pedestrians and for vehicles going in and out of parking on properties fronting it. If your accommodation is on it, that is the exemption you are relying on.
  • ⚠️ The cost of getting it wrong is up to €350 plus licence measures — €350, thirty days' withdrawal of the driving licence and of the vehicle's registration documents, and a further forty days for the category Σ classification. The Ρ-7 sign beside it carries €150 plus twenty days on its own account; `penalty` sets the routes out.
  • Read the plate under the sign for the authoritative hours. The act orders supplementary informational plates carrying «την περίοδο και το ωράριο εφαρμογής» — the period and the hours — so the square itself carries the same facts this page does, including the Sunday one. If a plate says something different, the plate is what an officer reads.
  • There is nothing to buy and nowhere to buy it. No permit, no exemption procedure and no charge appears in the clause — but it does defer to a standing municipal pedestrianisation regulation that it never numbers, so treat that as unread rather than as absent.
