Brussels, Belgium · Low emission zone
In force in Brussels right nowTuesday, 13 October 2026 at 11:02 · Europe/Brussels
This is the operating time only. Whether your own vehicle may enter depends on its emission class, and a foreign plate must be registered before you drive in even when the vehicle complies.
Operating times only, read from the source below. It does not check your vehicle.
The whole Brussels-Capital Region is a low emission zone, active every day of the week, 24 hours a day. Compliant vehicles pay nothing. If you drive a foreign-registered vehicle you must register it before entering — even if it meets the emission standards — or you risk a €150 fine on top of anything else.
The Brussels LEZ is not a charging scheme: compliant vehicles enter free. A non-compliant vehicle can instead buy a day pass (€35, maximum 24 per year per vehicle) — recorded under how_to_comply rather than as a charge everyone pays.
Every day of the week, 24 hours a day.
The entire Brussels-Capital Region, which consists of 19 municipalities.
Since 1 January 2026, Euro 2 petrol vehicles no longer meet the access criteria. Vehicles running on CNG, LNG, LPG or bioethanol count as petrol, and petrol hybrids follow the petrol timetable.
Since 1 January 2026, Euro 5 diesel vehicles no longer meet the access criteria. Diesel hybrids follow the diesel timetable.
Next scheduled re-check: 2026-12-01.
