13 schemes in 13 cities. Every figure comes from an official source and is re-checked.
Czechia has 13 driving restrictions that we have checked against an official source, in 13 cities. They are 12 limited traffic zones and 1 heavy vehicle ban.
This page lists no country-wide requirement for Czechia. Anything owed before you reach a city is not covered here, so check the national road authority before you leave.
The sources for this country were read on 2026-09-15, from the authorities' own pages. Each check is repeated on a schedule, and a rule we can no longer confirm comes down instead of staying up.

Boskovice charges for the permit that gets a motor vehicle past the no-entry sign into four places, and čl. 3 of obecně závazná vyhláška č. 8/2024 gives each one a reason as well as a location: the section of Masarykovo náměstí marked by the sign, and the section of Hradní from the former convent of St Vincent de Paul, both because the ground is historically and architecturally valuable; the section of Kpt.
Jaroše that joins that street to Masarykovo náměstí, for the same reason; and the Western park Boskovice together with the "Doubrava" forest, because it is a significant landscape feature. The fourth is the one that makes this town unlike the other ten Czech records here — a film-set theme park and the woodland around it, charged alongside a market square.
Three of the four are defined in the ordinance as the section "označený příslušnou dopravní značkou", the section marked by the appropriate traffic sign, so the town's own text hands the exact extent to the sign rather than stating it.
The tariff is the widest in the Czech corpus and is graduated by weight above the daily rate: 100 Kč for a motor vehicle and each started day, then for a vehicle up to 3 500 kg 500 Kč a calendar month or 5 000 Kč a calendar year, and for a vehicle over 3 500 kg 10 100 Kč a calendar month or 13 000 Kč a calendar year. Two months over 3.5 tonnes therefore cost more than a whole year, which is what the ordinance says.
The daily fee falls due when the permit is issued; the flat fees fall due on the last day of the period, and čl. 6 names a week among those periods although čl. 5 sets no weekly rate.
Nobody pays who is registered as living in a charged place or owns property there, nor their close family, spouses and children, nor anyone using property there for business or public-benefit activity, nor holders of a ZTP or ZTP/P card and their companions.
Six further exemptions cover vehicles by what they are doing: clearing an incident, collecting municipal waste, belonging to the town or its organisations, working on town roads, pavements or public greenery under contract, belonging to the integrated rescue system, or carrying out the transport a youth-activity organisation inside the charged place needs.
The ordinance took effect on 1 January 2025 and repealed the town's č. 4/2023, which had run for a single year; the national register records this one as Platné and that repeal as done.
Charge 100.00 CZK
The centre of Český Krumlov is a pedestrian zone that motor vehicles may not enter: the ban is on the traffic sign, and the town's ordinance sets what a permit to cross it costs. A permit is 100 Kč for each started day. Two monthly passes exist instead: 1 500 Kč a month for a vehicle allowed into the pedestrian zone only at certain times of day, and 2 000 Kč a month for one allowed in at any time.
The ordinance itself does not say what those times are — it prices two kinds of access without describing either — so a driver who needs to be inside at a particular hour has to ask the town office.
People registered in the zone or owning property there, their close family, businesses and public-benefit users of property inside it, and holders of a ZTP or ZTP/P disability card with their companions pay nothing; nor do utility emergency crews, the ambulance and patient-transport service, deliveries, undertakers, telecoms, road maintenance and cleaning, and refuse collection.
The ordinance has been in force since 1 January 2024 and the national register records it as Platné.
Charge 100.00 CZK
Doksy is the lake town of this corpus, and it is the first Czech record where not one charged place is a street. Příloha č. 1 to obecně závazná vyhláška č.
5/2023 lists five, and all five are recreation ground: the compounds of Máchovo jezero including the beaches and the Yacht club, the compounds of the holiday facilities in the locality below Borný, the cottage area from Bílý kámen as far as the Jordán brook in Doksy, the compound of the holiday facility below the Štědrá hill, and the tennis-court compounds in Doksy and in Staré Splavy. Čl.
2 says what the charge buys, in the words every Czech ordinance of this kind uses: a permit into places "do kterých je jinak vjezd zakázán příslušnou dopravní značkou", where entry is otherwise prohibited by the appropriate traffic sign. The tariff is the first in the Czech corpus with a weekend on it.
A started day is 50 Kč; then a flat 100 Kč covers the period from Friday to Sunday, 200 Kč a calendar week and 1 000 Kč a calendar year — which is a resort town pricing the thing its visitors actually do. The arithmetic is worth doing before paying by the day: the Friday-to-Sunday rate is two days' worth, the week is four, and the year is twenty. Čl.
6 splits the due dates in a way that follows that split rather than the obvious one — the daily fee and the Friday-to-Sunday flat fall due together with the permit, while the weekly and the annual flat fall due on the last day of the week and of the calendar year, after the driving rather than before it. Čl.
7 exempts natural persons registered as living in a charged place or owning property there, people close to them, their spouses and their children, anyone using property in a charged place for business or public-benefit activity, and holders of a ZTP or ZTP/P card together with their companions; an entitlement lapses if the fact behind it is not reported in the time the ordinance or the law sets.
The charge administrator is the městský úřad. The ordinance was passed on 11 October 2023, took effect on 1 January 2024 and repealed the town's č. 6/2019 of 11 December 2019; the national register records this one as Platné and that repeal as done.
Two Czech municipalities are called Doksy and this is the one by the lake, in the Česká Lípa district — the other is a village of 1,075 people near Kladno, 67 km away, with no Staré Splavy in it.
Charge 50.00 CZK
The spa centre of Františkovy Lázně is closed to motor vehicles by traffic sign, and the town's ordinance sets the price of the permit that lets you past it. The ordinance is unusually precise about which sign: B1 with supplementary plate E13 reading "Vjezd povolen po zaplacení místního poplatku" — entry permitted once the local charge is paid. Behind it are six streets in full — Dr.
Pohoreckého, Boženy Němcové, Jiráskova, Národní třída, Husova and Poštovní — plus the stretch of Ruská between Americká and Dr. Pohoreckého, and the pedestrian zone, which stays open for deliveries. A permit costs 50 Kč per vehicle for each started day, and that is the only rate: there is no weekly, monthly or annual alternative to buy.
For a single day, or part of one, you do not even have to register — the ordinance waives the declaration for a one-off permit.
Residents and property owners inside the zone pay nothing, and neither do their close family, businesses and public-benefit users of property there, ZTP and ZTP/P card holders with their companions, anyone over 65 registered as living in the town, delivery vehicles, or a spa guest staying inside the zone, who is exempt for the whole of the stay rather than just the arrival and departure days.
The ordinance took effect on 31 January 2026 and replaced the town's 2023 one; the national register records it as Platné.
Charge 50.00 CZK
The centre of the Krkonoše spa town of Janské Lázně is closed to motor vehicles by traffic sign, and ordinance č. 6/2023 sets the price of the permit that lets you past it. Čl.
3 names the sign — "Zákaz vjezdu všech motorových vozidel" with the plate "Dopravní obsluze a na povolení MěÚ Janské Lázně vjezd povolen" — and then names the roads behind it: náměstí Svobody, the streets Lázeňská, Obchodní, Na Sluneční stráni, Školní and Rekreační, the Dolní and Horní promenáda, and part of Černohorská and part of Lesní.
This is the first Czech town in this corpus whose rate depends on the vehicle: 50 Kč per started day for a car and 150 Kč for anything over 3.5 tonnes. Annual passes are cheaper for people who work inside the zone — 300 Kč for a first permit and 500 Kč for each further one, against 1 000 Kč in every other case.
A single day can be paid at one of the town's payment machines, and then the day you pay is the day it is due. The exemptions are the widest of any Czech town here, and one of them is wide enough that we do not interpret it: alongside residents, property owners and ZTP card holders, čl. 7 odst.
2 exempts town employees, school transport, wedding and funeral vehicles on the day, holders of a parking card issued by the town office, vehicles taking people to a GP or dentist — and, in its own words, "fyzické osoby přihlášené mimo vybrané místo a právnické osoby se sídlem mimo vybrané místo", natural persons registered outside the selected place and legal persons seated outside it.
Read literally that covers most visiting drivers, and it cannot be squared with the charge existing at all; the ordinance offers no explanation and we do not supply one. Ask the Městský úřad Janské Lázně before assuming either way. The ordinance took effect on 2 January 2024 and repealed the town's 2019 one; the national register records it as Platné.
Charge 50.00 CZK
The spa quarter of Karlovy Vary is closed to motor vehicles by traffic sign, and the city's ordinance sets the price of the permit that lets you in. It is the only Czech scheme in this corpus that draws its own boundary in words: thirty-three streets and squares are listed, from Stará louka and Lázeňská along the colonnades to Zámecký vrch, Divadelní náměstí and Vřídelní.
A permit costs 100 Kč per vehicle for each started day, or 2 000 Kč for 30 days, 4 000 Kč for 90 days and 14 000 Kč for a year. Single permits of one to seven consecutive days can be bought from machines or a mobile app instead of at the counter.
Battery-electric vehicles need no permit at all, and neither do buses and marked service vehicles of the city transport operator, emergency vehicles, a doctor on a home visit, or a spa guest staying inside the zone — on the day of arrival and the day of departure only. Residents, property owners and their families, businesses using property inside the zone, and holders of a ZTP or ZTP/P disability card pay nothing.
The ordinance has been in force since 13 July 2022 and the national register records it as Platné.
Charge 100.00 CZK
The spa centre of Mariánské Lázně is a signed traffic-restriction zone that all motor vehicles are barred from, and the town's ordinance sets the price of the permit that gets you in.
It is the only Czech ordinance in this corpus that names the signs: you enter under IZ 8a, a zone with a traffic restriction, carrying the symbol of B11, no entry for any motor vehicle, and the words "Mimo vozidla s povolením MěÚ Mariánské Lázně" — except vehicles with a permit from the town office.
It is also the cheapest of the four: 50 Kč per vehicle for each started day, or 300 Kč a week, 700 Kč a month, 5 000 Kč a year. A zero-emission vehicle is exempt outright, and so is a guest paying to stay in a spa, holiday or hotel property inside the zone — but only on the day the stay begins and the day it ends.
Residents, owners and tenants of property inside the zone and their families, businesses and public-benefit users of property there, holders of a ZTP or ZTP/P disability card and their companions, a general practitioner on call, emergency vehicles, town maintenance and the scheduled bus and trolleybus services all pay nothing. In force since 1 January 2024; the national register records it as Platné.
Charge 50.00 CZK
Pardubice charges for a permit into two places in the city centre, and two is the whole list: ulice Pod Zámkem, and the stretch of třída Míru between Sladkovského and the junction with 17. listopadu and Masarykovo náměstí. Both are in Městský obvod Pardubice I.
Entry is barred by traffic sign; the ordinance only prices the permit that gets you past it. A vehicle up to and including 3.5 tonnes pays 30 Kč for each started day, 400 Kč for 30 calendar days or 4 000 Kč for a calendar year; anything heavier pays 40 Kč, 800 Kč and 8 000 Kč. You choose the flat rate when you register, not afterwards.
Residents and property owners inside the zone pay nothing, nor do their close family, businesses and public-benefit users of property there, or ZTP and ZTP/P card holders with their companions. Emergency vehicles, city buses, care and home-care services, refuse and street-maintenance vehicles, wedding cars and hearses are exempt outright.
Read the two-place list carefully if you have seen an older one: until 1 May 2025 this scheme covered nine places, including Pernštýnská, Zámecká and Klášterní around the castle, and an amending ordinance replaced that list wholesale.
Charge 30.00 CZK
Pec pod Sněžkou sits under the highest mountain in Czechia, and the roads that climb from it into the inner protection zone of the Krkonoše National Park are closed to motor vehicles by traffic sign. The town's ordinance č.
1/2026 sets the price of the permit that lets you past, and unlike every other Czech town in this corpus it is not a zone around a square — it is six mountain roads, each described as running from a named landmark towards the settlements above it.
In Pec itself: the local road from the Zelený potok bridge up towards Poustevník, Vysoký svah, Lučiny, Zahrádky, Hnědý vrch, Javor and Stráň, and the road from the Bystřiny car park to the Lesovna in the Úpa valley. In Velká Úpa: from house no. 185, the former health centre, up to Klausenwald; from the junction at no.
132, the Uran, up to Prostřední and Zadní výsluní, Žlebský důl, Přední výsluní and Janovy boudy; from no. 240, the Starý mlýn, up to Hlušiny; and from the junction at no. 260, the Alamo, up to Vavřincův důl, Hlušiny and Schneiderova stráň.
A day costs 100 Kč per vehicle. The rate that matters to a visitor staying in one of the chalets is the one below it: 200 Kč buys eight days for a vehicle whose occupants are staying in the zone, which is two days' worth of driving for a week and a day of it. Commuting to work costs 200 Kč for a whole year; anything else is 1 000 Kč a year.
For a single day, or part of one, no declaration is required at all.
Nobody pays who is registered inside the charged place or owns property there, nor their close family, nor property users in business or public-benefit activity, nor ZTP and ZTP/P holders and their companions, and the ordinance adds emergency services, mountain rescue, the Trutnov municipal police and water utility, undertakers, waste vehicles, the Krkonoše National Park Administration and the town's own vehicles.
The ordinance took effect on 1 April 2026 and replaced the town's 2024 one; the national register records it as Platné.
Charge 100.00 CZK
The spa quarter of Poděbrady and both banks of the Elbe through it are closed to motor vehicles by traffic sign, and the town's ordinance č. 8/2023 sets the price of the permit that lets you past. Article 3 lists the places in words and leaves nothing to a map: the pedestrian zone running from Pionýrů through náměstí T.
G. Masaryka and the streets Lázeňská and Divadelní, which is the spa colonnade; the part of Divadelní between Na Valech and Jiřího náměstí; the pedestrian zone on Jiřího náměstí itself; the streets Labská, Na Dláždění, Turinského and Šternberská; Zámecké nábřeží and Labské nábřeží, the two Elbe embankments; and the dead-end stretch of Studentská up to the rear gate of the Dr. Filip sanatorium.
A day costs 100 Kč, and unusually for a Czech town there is a full ladder above it — 200 Kč a week, 800 Kč a month, 1 200 Kč a quarter, 1 600 Kč a half-year and 3 200 Kč a year — so a week costs what two days cost and a year costs what thirty-two days cost.
The charge falls due at the moment the permit is issued, and there is no waiver of the declaration for a single day, which Františkovy Lázně and Pec pod Sněžkou both grant: in Poděbrady you file the declaration at the latest when you apply.
Nobody pays who is registered as living inside the zone or owns property there, nor their close family, spouses and children, nor anyone using property inside it for business or public-benefit activity, nor holders of a ZTP or ZTP/P card and their companions. The ordinance took effect on 1 January 2024 and repealed the town's 2021 one; the national register records it as Platné.
Charge 100.00 CZK
Polička's walled old town is closed to motor vehicles by traffic sign, and obecně závazná vyhláška č. 5/2023 prices the permit that lets you past. Čl.
3 names seventeen places and draws nothing: the streets Fortna from the junction with Parkány, Komenského, Kostelní, Masarykova, Nová, Otakarova, Pálená, Riegrova, Růžová, Šaffova from house number 233, Štěpničná, Tylova, Tyršova from house number 1, U Masných krámů and Václavská, plus the two squares — náměstí B.
Martinů, the square around the plague column and the church where Bohuslav Martinů was born, and Palackého náměstí. Two of the seventeen start at a point rather than at a corner: Šaffova is charged only from čp. 233 and Tyršova only from čp.
1. The fee is 20 Kč for each vehicle and each started day, and there is no weekly, monthly or annual alternative at all — the tariff is one line, which makes Polička the flattest scheme of the eleven Czech towns published here. The fee falls due when the permit is issued.
A one-off permit for a single day, or part of one, needs no declaration filed at all, which is the concession Františkovy Lázně and Pec pod Sněžkou also make; for anything longer the declaration comes at the latest with the application and a change must be reported within 30 days rather than the usual 15.
Nobody pays who is registered as living in a charged place or owns property there, nor their close family, spouses and children, nor anyone using property there for business or public-benefit activity, nor holders of a ZTP or ZTP/P card and their companions. Čl. 7 odst.
2 then exempts four more groups no other published Czech town lists together: holders of a parking card, traders at markets held in the charged places under the town's market rules, guests staying in paid accommodation inside them, and anyone driving in for a wedding or a funeral. Čl.
8 is the warning attached to that first group — paying this charge does not buy you a parking card, which is a separate instrument of the town under its own nařízení. The ordinance took effect on 1 January 2024 and repealed the town's č. 10/2019; the national register records it as Platné, and as version 2 of the filing.
Charge 20.00 CZK
Rokytnice nad Jizerou is the only town in this corpus that divides its charged places into named colours. Obecně závazná vyhláška č. 3/2023, čl.
3, sets out five: a modrá zóna covering the western part of the Hořeních domků in the valley of the Černý potok and Hrušov; a červená zóna covering Tajchy and the eastern part of the same scattered hamlets except the Dvorské boudy; a zelená zóna covering the Dvorské boudy themselves; a žlutá zóna covering Studenov, Kasárna and the Packé boudy; and a bílá zóna covering the Huťský vodopád, the Huť waterfall.
These are mountain settlements above a ski town on the edge of the Krkonoše, not streets, and the ordinance gives no street names at all — it identifies each zone by the boarding points that lead into it, every one of them pinned to a house number and a landmark: čp. 359 Horní Rokytnice by the Rokytka Snowhouse apartments, čp. 391 below Ručičky, čp.
401 above the Skácelka chalet, čp. 17 Rokytno at the Starý Mlýn hotel, the junction below čp. 1 Hranice, the junction with Kostelní cesta, čp.
17 Studenov at Kasárna, above čp. 119 Horní Rokytnice, and čp. 6 Rokytno at the Tereza chalet.
Entry to all of them is barred by traffic sign; the ordinance prices the permit that gets a motor vehicle past. Čl. 5 gives three rates, and the ladder between them is unlike any other Czech town here: 50 Kč for each started day, 50 Kč flat for a calendar week, 300 Kč flat for a calendar year.
A week costs exactly what one day costs, so anyone staying past a single day has no reason to buy a day, and a year costs what six days would. The daily fee falls due when the permit is issued; the flat rates fall due on the last day of the week or year they cover, which is the reverse of Poděbrady.
Nobody pays who is registered as living in a charged place or owns property there, nor their close family, spouses and children, nor anyone using property there for business or public-benefit activity, nor holders of a ZTP or ZTP/P card and their companions. Čl. 7 odst.
2 adds a second list no other published Czech town carries in this form: hearse vehicles, social-care vehicles, vehicles carrying out dopravní obsluha and deliveries, road maintenance and cleaning vehicles, and municipal waste collection. The ordinance took effect on 1 January 2024 and repealed the town's č. 2/2020; the national register records it as Platné and that repeal as done.
Charge 50.00 CZK
Znojmo's old town is closed by traffic sign to motor vehicles over 3.5 tonnes, and the town's ordinance sets what a permit to bring one in costs.
A car is never in this scheme at any hour: the whole ordinance turns on total weight, and the forty-three streets and squares it names — Masarykovo náměstí, Horní náměstí, Divišovo náměstí, Obroková, Zelenářská, Velká Mikulášská, Hradní and the rest of the historic core — are unaffected by it for anything at or under 3.5 tonnes.
A permit is 100 Kč per vehicle for each started day, or 200 Kč a calendar week, 600 Kč a month, 2 500 Kč for half a year and 4 800 Kč a year. Residents and property owners inside the zone and their families, businesses and public-benefit users of property there, and holders of a ZTP or ZTP/P disability card with their companions pay nothing.
Nor do heavy vehicles of the integrated rescue system on a callout, town buses and other services licensed by the town's transport department — the tourist road train and the wine bus are named — sewer and street cleaning, refuse collection, vehicle recovery, utility and data-cable emergency work, or a heavy vehicle attending a wedding or a funeral, which is allowed to wait at two named spots for as long as the ceremony needs.
In force since 1 January 2024; the national register records it as Platné.
