Driving in Toulouse: ZFE

Toulouse, France · Low emission zone

Official name Zone à Faibles Émissions (ZFE) de Toulouse Métropole

In force in Toulouse right nowTuesday, 13 October 2026 at 11:03 · Europe/Paris

The zone is always on; whether it reaches you depends on the vehicle's Crit'Air class, which this timetable does not check. A Crit'Air 0, 1, 2 or 3 vehicle is unaffected at every hour.

It applies to parking as well as driving, so leaving a banned vehicle inside the perimeter is not a way round it.

A Pass ZFE turns 52 individual days a year off for one named vehicle. Those days are not a timetable and are not encoded here — they are whichever days that driver booked.

Operating times only, read from the source below. It does not check your vehicle.

What applies

Toulouse has barred Crit'Air 4, Crit'Air 5 and unclassified vehicles — every motorised category, cars included — since 1 January 2023, around the clock, for parking as well as driving, over 72 km² inside the rocade.

The Crit'Air 3 step that Lyon took in 2025 is suspended here by a measure the Métropole adopted on 12 October 2023, and one caveat goes with that: the Métropole's dated words are that a Crit'Air 3 vehicle may drive in the zone 'au minimum jusqu'au 31 décembre 2025', and that sentence has not been rewritten since.

The news at the top of the same page has been — after the Conseil constitutionnel struck down the abolition of ZFEs in 2026 it still names only classes 4, 5 and unclassified as banned — so those three classes are the rule today, but the promise behind Crit'Air 3 is a year past its own end date.

Daily charge

There is no charge and no day rate. Toulouse's ZFE bans rather than prices: a vehicle either carries a permitted Crit'Air class, or holds a Pass ZFE or a derogation for that day, or it may not drive or park inside the perimeter. The Pass ZFE is a derogation rather than a ticket, and the Métropole's page for it states no fee — so no fee is stated here either, in either direction.

When it operates

In force 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, since the zone started on 1 March 2022, and it covers parking as well as driving.

Area covered

All of Toulouse inside the rocade ring road, plus a small part of Colomiers and Tournefeuille — 72 km², in which the Métropole counts 430,000 residents.

Petrol standard

A petrol car first registered before 1997 may not drive or park in the zone. The Métropole gives the same rule for vans and small vans at 1 October 1997 and for lorries at 1 October 2001, and a separate line for powered two-wheelers: one first registered before 1 July 2004 is banned whatever its fuel.

Diesel standard

A diesel car first registered before 2006 may not drive or park in the zone — the same cut-off the Métropole gives for vans. For lorries the diesel line falls at 1 October 2009.

How to comply
  • If your vehicle is banned there is a lawful way in: the Pass ZFE lets it drive and park inside the zone for up to 52 days in a calendar year, whatever its Crit'Air class.
  • It is open to 'tous les particuliers et professionnels, quel que soit leur lieu de résidence' — so a visitor with a foreign address is eligible on the same terms as a resident of Toulouse.
  • No reason has to be given. The Métropole describes it as being for occasional journeys 'sans avoir à préciser un motif d'utilisation du véhicule', and its own examples are a short stay, a trip, a medical appointment.
  • Every vehicle type is eligible: cars, lorries, light commercial vehicles and two-wheelers.
  • Request it by the day before at the latest. It can be cancelled or changed up to the eve, and further days are added to the request you already have rather than by filing a new one each time.
  • You need an account, and on the first request the registration number and a scan or photo of the registration certificate.
  • A confirmation carrying a QR code arrives by email. That is what you show at a roadside check, and when the vehicle is parked it must be displayed on the dashboard where a warden can see it.
  • The Pass only covers the days it was booked for. On any other day a banned vehicle may be parked inside the zone only on private ground — a garage or a private car park — or outside the perimeter altogether.
