Driving in Barcelona

Spain: 1 scheme to know about before you drive in.

The short answer for Barcelona

Barcelona has one driving restriction on our books: the Zona de Baixes Emissions (ZBE) Rondes de Barcelona (low emission zone). What is a low emission zone?

What it means for your car

Petrol or LPG. A foreign-registered car needs Euro 3 or better to enter. A Spanish-registered car is judged by its DGT label instead: petrol cars below Euro 3 (typically registered before 2000) get no label and are banned. Motorcycles and mopeds need Euro 2 or better.
Diesel. A foreign-registered car needs Euro 4 or better. A Spanish-registered diesel car below Euro 4 (typically registered before 2005 or 2006) gets no DGT label and is banned.
