Spain: 1 scheme to know about before you drive in.
Seville has one driving restriction on our books: the Zona de Bajas Emisiones de la Isla de la Cartuja (low emission zone). What is a low emission zone?

Seville's low emission zone covers the Isla de la Cartuja, not the historic centre a visitor might expect. It is in force on weekdays only, 07:00 to 19:00, and not on public holidays. The vehicles it keeps out are the ones too old for a DGT environmental label — in the city's own words, principally petrol cars registered before 2000 and diesel before 2006.
Cameras read the plates, and since July 2024 unauthorised entries are reported and fined rather than merely noted.
