Florence, Italy · Limited traffic zone

Lifts Tuesday, 13 October 2026 at 20:00 local time.
Florence's own provision says the daytime ZTL applies on working days (giorni feriali), which in Italy excludes public holidays. We have found no official, dated and reusable list of the public holidays currently in force in Italy, so we cannot apply that exclusion. On an Italian public holiday this page will say the ZTL is running when the city says it is not. The error only ever runs that way.
Florence's ZTL is not one zone but five sectors, and this timetable is the whole scheme. Where we are answering for a route, we test which of the city's five published sectors the line goes into and report a rule that covers none of them as not reaching you. Where there is no route, every sector's rule is shown, because we have no way to know which one you are in.
Sectors F and G have no daytime ZTL, but they are inside the boundary we hold. Where a route enters only F or G and keeps more than half a kilometre from every other sector, we now say the daytime rules do not reach it. Closer than that we keep the warning: the sectors share their edges, and a car a hundred metres off the simplified line we were given is not outside the zone, it is in the sector next door.
A night window that opens at 20:00 or 23:00 runs into the small hours of the next day, and is counted against the evening it starts on — a Friday rule, even though most of it happens on Saturday.
Some gates are closed to everyone 24 hours a day, because they serve only public transport and emergency vehicles. This timetable does not know which those are.
Operating times only, read from the source below. It does not check your vehicle.
The whole of Florence's historic centre is a limited traffic zone, split into five sectors (A, B, O, F and G) and watched by camera gates. In sectors A, B and O the gates are live 07:30–20:00 Monday to Friday and 07:30–16:00 on Saturday. From the first Thursday of April to the first Sunday of October a summer night ZTL closes all five sectors on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights as well.
There is nothing to pay at the gate: entry needs an authorisation obtained beforehand, which for a visitor means either a daily permit bought in advance or the hotel putting the number plate on a temporary white list.

There is no charge payable at the gate, and we will not publish a price for the daily permit. The operator links a tariff sheet titled 'Somme dovute per accesso ZTL - 2018' which lists a daily permit at €5.00, but the governing provision records the tariff being revised again by council decisions after that sheet was written (most recently 2020/G/00277).
A price we cannot show to be the current one is not a price we will state.
Sectors A, B and O: 07:30–20:00 Monday to Friday and 07:30–16:00 on Saturday, on working days. From the first Thursday of April to the first Sunday of October the summer night ZTL also applies to all five sectors. In sectors A, B and O it runs 23:00 Thursday to 03:00 Friday, 20:00 Friday to 03:00 Saturday and 16:00 Saturday to 03:00 Sunday; in sectors F and G it runs 23:00 to 03:00 on each of those three nights.
Sectors F and G have no daytime ZTL.
Servizi alla Strada S.p.A. (for the Comune di Firenze)
The historic centre, inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage list in 1982, divided into five sectors: A, B, O, F and G. The operator's page does not describe the perimeter in words; the governing provision lists it street by street and publishes a separate map.

Not this scheme's business. The ZTL restricts access by authorisation and time of day; the emissions ban that applies in Florence is the city-wide Scudo Verde, which has its own record. The ZTL provision does refer to its own anti-pollution parameters (point 27 of the technical rules), which we have not read in full and do not restate here.
See the note on the petrol standard.
No official page we could read states an amount. The governing provision says offenders are punished under articles 7, 157, 158 and 159 of the Italian Highway Code without giving a figure; the Comune's own 'Multe e sanzioni' page forwards to the municipal police site, which publishes no ZTL penalty table. Not estimated.

A city can run more than one scheme, and they do not always answer the same question.
