🚨 THE SUNDAY RULE ABOVE IS A READING, NOT A QUOTATION, AND THAT IS THE MOST IMPORTANT THING ON THIS PAGE. The order bans on "le DOMENICHE ECOLOGICHE" without defining or listing them. Two things in the document pull in different directions: point 3 suspends the ban on individual Sundays, which would be pointless unless the others were restricted, while the preamble's recital of the PAIR technical rules describes ecological Sundays as "4 domeniche al mese", which is fewer than every Sunday in a five-Sunday month. The rule encodes the stricter reading because that is the one that keeps a driver out of a fine, and this caveat says so rather than letting the table imply a certainty the publisher did not provide.
The Sunday list is stricter than the weekday list in two ways, not one: diesel reaches Euro 5, and Move-In vehicles are on it. The hours are identical, 08:30–18:30, so a reader comparing only the clocks would see no difference at all.
⚠️ The Sunday window here is NOT the Sunday window at Lugo, 16.84 km away on the same register and in the same season, which runs 08:00–19:00. Nothing in this family may be carried from one town to another.
Saturday carries no rule because the order never names Saturday in its circulation articles. That holds only while the emergency measures are off.
The emergency measures are not in this timetable and cannot be. Arpae issues the bulletin on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays; when it calls for measures anywhere in the province of Bologna the ban runs 08:00–19:00 from the following day until the next control day inclusive, on any day of the week, reaches diesel Euro 5 and bans Move-In vehicles.
Strike days are not in this timetable for the same reason: the order suspends the ban on any day of a local public transport strike, and those are called at short notice.
⚠️ This timetable is a clock. It says nothing about where you are, and here that matters more than in the smaller records: the zone is the whole built-up area, and point 9 opens forty-seven named streets and eleven itineraries across it so that a banned vehicle can reach the park-and-ride car parks and the trunk roads. A vehicle on the banned list can be entirely lawful at every hour in this table.
Operating times only, read from the source below. It does not check your vehicle.
Imola closes the whole of its built-up area to older vehicles for the winter half of the year, from 1 October 2026 to 31 March 2027. Monday to Friday, 08:30 to 18:30, the ban catches petrol cars up to and including Euro 2, LPG/petrol and methane/petrol up to and including Euro 2, diesel cars up to and including Euro 4, and mopeds and motorcycles up to and including Euro 2.
On an ecological Sunday the same window applies and diesel reaches Euro 5. When Arpae's bulletin calls for emergency measures the window widens to 08:00–19:00, on any day of the week, again reaching diesel Euro 5. Nothing is on sale: there is no day ticket, no charge and no payable derogation.
The fine is set by national law and this order prints it, a range of €168 to €679, with fifteen to thirty days' licence suspension for a repeat offence within two years. 🔑 With 69,702 residents at 1 January 2026 this is the third-largest scheme in the Emilia-Romagna family after Modena and Piacenza, and the zone is the whole centro abitato rather than a town-centre block. 🚨 The exception that makes that workable is the largest in the family and it is a road network, not a list of side streets: point 9 lets a banned vehicle enter the built-up area anyway, "esclusivamente per raggiungere i parcheggi scambiatori serviti dal servizio pubblico" and to reach the trunk routes to the other provincial capitals and to the A14 motorway entrance, over forty-seven named streets and eleven numbered itineraries running to the hospital car parks, the railway station, the Autodromo paddock and two supermarkets. 🚨 AND MOVE-IN IS NOT AN EXEMPTION HERE ON A SUNDAY — IT IS ON THE BANNED LIST.
Point 2.6 names vehicles enrolled in the regional telematics scheme among the classes forbidden on an ecological Sunday, and point 8.1 does the same for the emergency measures; point 10.4 grants the exemption "Solo relativamente alle limitazioni strutturali di cui al punto 1".
That is the clearest statement of Move-In's reach anywhere in this family, and it is the opposite of what a driver would infer from the word "exemption". ⚠️ One thing this order does NOT do is say which Sundays are ecological Sundays. It bans on "le DOMENICHE ECOLOGICHE comprese nel periodo" without naming them, and then names ten days on which the ban is suspended.
The suspension list is what this record publishes; the Sunday calendar is discussed under hours and is not asserted as a fact the publisher stated.
Città di Imola (BO) — Ordinanza n. 25 del 28/09/2026, signed digitally by the Mayor, Marco Panieri, and published by Arpae Emilia-Romagna, the regional agency that collects the implementing ordinances of the municipalities bound by the PAIR 2030
Nothing is charged and there is no such charge in this scheme.
The order bans the listed classes from circulating in the centro abitato, opens a named road network through it so that banned vehicles can still reach the park-and-ride car parks and the trunk roads, and then lists the vehicles that are exempt; there is no day ticket, no registration fee, no permit price and no payable derogation a visitor could buy on arrival. 🚨 The one route by which a banned vehicle can be authorised is Move-In, the regional telematics scheme, and here it is narrower than the word suggests.
It fits a black box and allows a monitored annual mileage allowance instead of a flat prohibition, on the terms of Annexes A, B and C to regional decision DGR n. 1493 of 22/09/2025 as applied by the Comune's own ordinance n.
44 of 02/10/2025 — but this order excludes enrolled vehicles from the weekday ban ONLY, "Solo relativamente alle limitazioni strutturali di cui al punto 1", and then goes further than any neighbour by naming them among the classes BANNED on an ecological Sunday (point 2.6) and during the emergency measures (point 8.1).
Move-In is in any case a scheme for vehicles registered in the participating regions rather than something a foreign visitor can buy, and neither the order nor the regional decision states a price in the documents read here, so none is given. ⚠️ Where the enforcement is discretionary it is still not purchasable: point 11.7 exempts "veicoli autorizzati dalla Polizia Locale per improrogabili ed urgenti esigenze", which is a permission granted on urgency, not a fee.
Seasonal, and the season had not yet begun when this was read. The ban runs from 1 October 2026 to 31 March 2027. Monday to Friday the window is 08:30 to 18:30. 🔑 On an ecological Sunday the window is the SAME, 08:30 to 18:30, and only the vehicle list changes — diesel reaches Euro 5 and Move-In vehicles are banned outright.
That is worth stating because the nearest of the neighbouring orders widens it instead: Lugo, 16.84 km away and on the same register, runs its Sundays 08:00–19:00, and a driver who carried that clock here would expect a longer day than Imola imposes.
Counted across this family on 2026-09-30, most Sunday rules run 08:30–18:30 as Imola's does, so the clock cannot simply be assumed either way. 🚨 THE ORDER DOES NOT SAY WHICH SUNDAYS ARE ECOLOGICAL SUNDAYS.
Point 2 bans on "le DOMENICHE ECOLOGICHE comprese nel periodo dal giorno 01/10/2026 al giorno 31/03/2027" and never defines or enumerates them; the only calendar it prints is the list of days on which the ban is suspended. This record does not invent the missing list.
What it can say is what the two lists imply and what the preamble recites, and the two point in different directions: point 3 suspends the ban on six individual Sundays and on a run that swallows three more, which would be pointless unless the remaining Sundays were restricted — while the preamble's recital of article 12 paragraph 2 of the PAIR 2030 technical rules describes ecological Sundays as "4 domeniche al mese", which is not every Sunday in a five-Sunday month.
A driver should treat any Sunday of the season that is not on the suspension list as restricted.
The ten suspended days are 25 October 2026; 1 November 2026; 4 December 2026; 6 December 2026; 8 December 2026; the whole run from 20 December 2026 to 6 January 2027 inclusive, which is eighteen consecutive days and the longest continuous suspension in this family; 7 February 2027; 13 February 2027; 28 March 2027, which is Easter Sunday; and 29 March 2027, Easter Monday. ⚠️ ONE WEEKDAY LABEL IN THAT LIST IS WRONG AND IT IS QUOTED RATHER THAN REPAIRED: the order writes "3.8. martedì 13/02/2027", and 13 February 2027 is a Saturday.
Recomputed on 2026-09-30, every other label in the list is correct. The slip costs a reader nothing here, because Saturday carries no ban under either rule, so suspending it suspends nothing — but it is the publisher's text and this record does not silently correct it. The measures are also suspended on any day of a local public transport strike, which cannot be put in a calendar.
Separately, the region's emergency measures can be triggered on any day of the week: they run 08:00 to 19:00, reach diesel Euro 5 and ban Move-In vehicles, they start the day after Arpae's bulletin calls for them and last until the next control day inclusive, and Arpae issues that bulletin on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. 🔑 The trigger is measured across "l'ambito territoriale della Provincia di Bologna" — the order names the province, which as an administrative tier was replaced by the Città Metropolitana di Bologna in 2015 and which Castenaso's order for the same season names in its modern form.
The wording is the publisher's and is quoted as written.
Città di Imola (BO) — Ordinanza n. 25 del 28/09/2026, points 1, 2 and 3 for the two ordinary clocks and the suspended days, point 8 for the emergency measures, and the preamble for the PAIR recital of what an ecological Sunday is
The whole built-up area of Imola — "l'area del Centro Abitato di Imola" — and not a town-centre block. That is a materially larger zone than the neighbouring records in this family draw, and it matches the town: 69,702 residents at 1 January 2026. 🚨 WHAT MAKES IT WORKABLE IS THE LARGEST OPEN NETWORK IN THE FAMILY, AND IT IS A FEATURE OF THE ORDER RATHER THAN A GAP IN IT.
Point 9 allows a banned vehicle into the centro abitato anyway, "esclusivamente per raggiungere i parcheggi scambiatori serviti dal servizio pubblico, nonché per raggiungere le direttrici principali che collegano i capoluoghi di Provincia e l'ingresso dell'Autostrada A14", and then names forty-seven streets and squares — among them via Pisacane, via Selice, via Emilia, via Montanara, viale Zappi, via Marconi, P.le Pertini and via Aspromonte — followed by eleven numbered itineraries that spell out where each of them may be driven and which car park it leads to.
The itineraries reach the Paddock car park at the Autodromo on via Santerno, the "Rirò" car park at via Selice 42/D, the Ca' del Pozzo car park, the new hospital's G.
Cattani and via Pola car parks, the sports-ground car park on via D'Acquisto, the Bocciofila, the Rodari school, the railway station car parks at P.le Pertini, the "Sigma" supermarket on via Di Vittorio and the "Leonardo" shopping centre on via Marzabotto. 🔑 THE MAP CARRIES A THIRD CONVENTION, AND ITS LEGEND NAMES ALL THREE ELEMENTS.
Allegato 1 was rendered and looked at on 2026-09-30: a grey stipple covers the restricted area under the legend entry "Area di limitazione della circolazione ai veicoli inquinanti", the permitted routes are drawn as heavy blue dashed lines under "Percorsi consentiti", and the car parks they serve carry the blue P of "Parcheggi".
Bagnacavallo's map for the same season colours the carriageways; Lugo's fills the city blocks; this one shades the area and draws the exceptions through it.
Three maps, three conventions, one region — none of them may be read through another. ⚠️ On the ground the practical test is the one the Highway Code gives: a centro abitato is bounded on its approach roads by the begin and end signs bearing the place name, and point 9 fixes several of its itineraries by exactly that landmark — "dalla delimitazione del centro abitato".
Città di Imola (BO) — Ordinanza n. 25 del 28/09/2026, points 1, 2 and 8.1 for the area and point 9 for the open network, with Allegato 1 (Planimetria – Imola), which the order makes part of itself
The authority's own map: Città di Imola (BO), published by Arpae Emilia-Romagna
Petrol cars of Euro 0, Euro 1 and Euro 2 are banned — "alimentati a benzina EURO 0, EURO 1 ed EURO 2, non conformi alla direttiva 98/69/A CE e successive o alla direttiva 99/96/A CE e successive" — so a petrol car needs to be Euro 3 or better. Bi-fuel vehicles running on LPG/petrol or methane/petrol are treated identically and banned up to and including Euro 2.
Mopeds are banned up to and including Euro 2 where they do not comply with Directive 2013/60/EC or later, and motorcycles up to and including Euro 2 where they do not comply with Directive 2003/77/EC or later.
None of these four lines moves anywhere in the scheme: they are caught at Euro 2 on a weekday, on an ecological Sunday and while the emergency measures are running alike. ⚠️ One transcription note, because it is the publisher's and not ours: in the emergency list at point 8.1 the second line is printed "alimentati a GPL/benzina o metano/benzina 0, EURO 1 ed EURO 2", with the word EURO missing before the first 0.
The same line is complete at points 1.2 and 2.2, so the class is not in doubt. 🔑 This is worth recording beyond Imola: Castenaso's order for the same season carries the identical slip, in the identical line, at the identical point of its emergency list.
Two comuni 26.42 km apart do not make the same typing error independently, in the same line of the same article — the regional template they both work from carries it.
Città di Imola (BO) — Ordinanza n. 25 del 28/09/2026, points 1.1, 1.2, 1.4 and 1.5 for the weekday list, 2.1, 2.2, 2.4 and 2.5 for the ecological Sundays, and 8.1 for the emergency list
Diesel cars are banned up to and including Euro 4 from Monday to Friday — "alimentati a diesel EURO 0, EURO 1, EURO 2, EURO 3 ed EURO 4 non conformi alla direttiva 2005/55/CE B2 e successive o alla direttiva 99/96 fase III oppure Riga B2 o C e successive" — so a diesel needs to be Euro 5 or better on a weekday. 🚨 On an ecological Sunday the line moves one class further and Euro 5 is banned as well: point 2.3 lists "alimentati a diesel EURO 0, EURO 1, EURO 2, EURO 3, EURO 4 ed EURO 5 non conformi al regolamento 715/2007*692/2008 (Euro 6 A o Euro 6 B)".
The emergency list at point 8.1 repeats that line word for word, so a red bulletin extends the Euro 5 ban to whatever weekday it falls on.
Only a Euro 6 diesel is clear of every list. ⚠️ Unlike Castenaso's order this one carries no separate LPG/diesel or methane/diesel indent in any of its three lists; the dual-fuel lines it does carry are the petrol ones. ⚠️ A reader who has seen that Italian national law set a structural Euro 5 diesel limitation from 1 October 2026 should note that it does not reach Imola as a structural rule: Emilia-Romagna dispensed with the structural limitation by DGR n.
1505 of 07/09/2026, which this order cites in its preamble and whose compensating measures — including the widened 08:00–19:00 emergency window — it then implements. Euro 5 is caught here by the Sunday rule and by the bulletin, not by a structural rule.
Città di Imola (BO) — Ordinanza n. 25 del 28/09/2026, point 1.3 for the weekday line, point 2.3 for the ecological Sundays and point 8.1 for the emergency list, with the preamble for the DGR 1505/2026 chain
Città di Imola (BO) — Ordinanza n. 25 del 28/09/2026, the sanctions article letters a) to d) and the closing paragraph naming the enforcing bodies
Città di Imola (BO) — Ordinanza n. 25 del 28/09/2026: points 1 to 3 for the clocks and the suspended days, point 8 for the emergency measures, point 9 for the open network, and points 10 and 11 for the exempt vehicles
Città di Imola (BO) — Ordinanza n. 25 del 28/09/2026, "Adozione dei provvedimenti temporanei di limitazione della circolazione e di misure ordinarie ed emergenziali" in attuazione del Piano Aria Integrato Regionale (PAIR 2030), signed digitally by the Mayor, Marco Panieri, on 28/09/2026 and published by Arpae Emilia-Romagna. This is the operative instrument: it fixes the season, the two ordinary clocks, the emergency clock, the three vehicle lists, the area, the open network of point 9, the exemptions and the penalties
Città di Imola (BO) — All. 1_Planimetria – Imola, the plan the order makes part of itself and that shows the restricted area, the permitted routes through it and the car parks they serve
Arpae Emilia-Romagna — "Imola (BO)", the sub-page in the regional agency's 2026-2027 ordinance index where this order and four of its annexes are published. 🚨 CITED FOR A DISCREPANCY AS WELL AS FOR THE DOCUMENTS: the ordinance names FIVE annexes as integral parts of itself, the fifth being the Move-In ordinance n. 44 of 02/10/2025, and this page published FOUR on 2026-09-30
Arpae Emilia-Romagna — "Ordinanze 2026-2027", the index of implementing ordinances for the municipalities over 30,000 inhabitants, the Bologna agglomeration and the volunteer municipalities. Cited for where this record sits in the regional harvest: counted on 2026-09-30 the index carries eleven entries, of which seven are now in this corpus, one (Zola Predosa) was read in full and orders no vehicle restriction at all, and three remain unread — Ozzano dell'Emilia (BO), Carpi (MO) and San Lazzaro di Savena (BO)
Arpae Emilia-Romagna — "Liberiamo l'aria", the regional portal for the antismog measures. Cited for the regional framework this order implements: the measures run from 1 October 2026 to 31 March 2027, and the index this order appears on collects the ordinances of the municipalities over 30,000 inhabitants, of the Bologna agglomeration and of the volunteer municipalities. 🔑 The order itself settles which category binds Imola, and it does so with a number: 69,702 residents at 1 January 2026
This rule ends on 2027-03-31, by the dates in the order itself. We do not re-check it after that — the page comes out of our index, and only a new order from the authority can put a rule for this road back on it.
