Dundee, United Kingdom · Low emission zone
In force in Dundee right nowTuesday, 13 October 2026 at 10:04 · Europe/London
The zone never switches off; whether it stops you depends on your vehicle's emission standard, which this does not check.
Motorcycles and mopeds are outside the scheme entirely, at every hour.
The council may suspend the zone for events of local or national significance and in emergencies. Those suspensions are announced case by case and are not in this timetable.
Operating times only, read from the source below. It does not check your vehicle.
Dundee's Low Emission Zone covers the city centre inside the A991 Inner Ring Road and, like every Scottish LEZ, it bans rather than charges: there is no daily fee that lets a non-compliant vehicle in. The scheme was introduced on 30 May 2022 with a two-year grace period, and enforcement by camera began on 30 May 2024. It runs 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, all year.
Motorcycles and mopeds are not affected. Dundee is the smallest of Scotland's four zones and the council publishes the whole thing down to the individual street names.
There is no daily charge, and that is the design rather than a hole in what we read. Scotland's Low Emission Zones restrict driving instead of pricing it: Dundee City Council's page, read 2026-09-10, describes only penalty charge notices for non-compliant vehicles and offers no route to pay for entry. A non-compliant vehicle is not permitted in the zone at any price.
The only money in this scheme is the penalty below.
24 hours a day, 7 days a week, all year. The council notes the scheme may be suspended for the duration of events of local or national significance, and in emergencies such as an accident on the wider network that diverts all traffic through the zone along prescribed routes.
The area inside the A991 Inner Ring Road, excluding the Bell Street, West Marketgait NCP and Wellgate car parks. The council lists every road in the zone by name, including High Street, Murraygate, Reform Street, Nethergate between West Marketgait and Crichton Street, Commercial Street, Cowgate, Seagate between Commercial Street and East Marketgait, Ward Road and Whitehall Street.
Several are in only in part: Bell Street counts between Victoria Road and Constitution Road, Dock Street between Whitehall Crescent and the Commercial Street junction, King Street between St Andrew's Street and North Marketgait.
